During the migration, over twomillion animals, made up of several species of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle, move clockwise from Ngorongoro and the Southern Serengeti. Traditionally, wildebeest and zebra tend to calve on the plains, with a peak around February, creating a beautiful natural spectacle and exciting predator-hunting behaviors. The wildebeest continue to mature on the short-grass plains, gaining strength for the long migration north after the rains and into the new pastures.
