The Umbwe Route is known for its difficulty due to a steep, fast ascent with limited acclimatization time. Though the trail sees fewer climbers, success rates are lower. It’s a tough route suited for experienced hikers who can handle rapid altitude gains. The climb is direct from the south, passing Barranco Camp, before traversing the Southern Circuit under Kilimanjaro's Ice Field. The descent is via the Mweka Route. Only attempt this if you're confident in your stamina and ability.
