2 travelers on Start dateMkomazi is vital refuge for two critically endangered species: black rhino and wild dog, both of which were reintroduced in the 1990s. Nomadic wild dogs may be seen anywhere in the park, but the black rhino are restricted to a fenced sanctuary to ensure their safety. Camp sites have basic facilities and provide an opportunity to hear the sounds of the night. Mkomazi is home to several dry country species that are rare elsewhere in Tanzania including the fringe-eared oryx.
