It is also a good place to look for the rare and localized Madagascar plover and Madagascar grebe. Even more alluring for endemic birds is the , where a long list of dry-country specials includes the comical running coua and peculiar sickle-billed vanga. Night walks are recommended to spot some of the nocturnal species.

Best Time for Bird Watching
Bird watching in Tsimanampetsotsa is good throughout the year and many birds can be seen at any time. That said, the Wet season months (November to March) are best for bird watching as birds tend to be more vocal and active during this time. This is also when migrants are present. However, these months are very hot and humid. So, as a compromise, the ideal time is perhaps from September to December and in April. Flamingos are mostly resident from April to October.
