International flights arrive in Addis Ababa at Bole International Airport (ADD).
The easiest way to get to Bale Mountains National Park is to fly to Robe Airport (also known as Goba Airport; GOB), 5km/3mi east of Bale Robe, the main town in the region. From here the drive to Dinsho, the headquarters of the park, takes about 30 minutes*. The drive from the airport to Bale Mountain Lodge, the only upmarket lodge in the park, which is located in the Harenna forest section, takes about 1½ hours* over the Sanetti Plateau.
It is also possible to travel overland, either on an organized tour or with a rented 4x4. The 400km/250mi drive from Addis Ababa to Dinsho takes about 7 hours* and driving on to Bale Mountain Lodge takes a further 2 hours*.
*Driving times are only a rough indication. You should always consider the possibility of significant delays.
