Your safari begins with an early departure from either Entebbe or Kampala as you set off toward western Uganda. The journey takes you through vibrant roadside towns, plantations, and rolling countryside. You’ll enjoy several scenic pauses along the way before continuing toward Kibale Forest. By mid-afternoon, you will arrive at Chimpundu Lodge, a luxury retreat tucked beside the forest. Settle in, explore the lodge grounds, or enjoy the surrounding natural sounds as night falls over the rainforest.

Day 2

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before beginning your guided chimpanzee tracking experience. As you venture through Kibale’s lush forest, you’ll listen for calls in the canopy and watch for movement among the branches. Along the way, you may encounter other primates such as red colobus, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys, along with a rich array of butterflies and birds. Following the trek, you’ll travel south toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through Fort Portal and later traversing beautiful landscapes filled with crater lakes, tea plantations, and forested slopes. Arrive at Mahogany Springs Lodge in the early evening and unwind with views of the surrounding hills.

Day 3

Wake up early for one of Africa’s most unforgettable wildlife encounters. After reporting to the Bwindi briefing point, you will join your assigned group and set off into the dense forest in search of a gorilla family. The trek varies in length depending on the gorillas’ movements, but once found, you will spend up to one hour quietly observing them as they feed, interact, and move through the vegetation. It is an intimate and moving experience that rewards both patience and effort. After the trek, return to Mahogany Springs Lodge to relax and reflect on your once-in-a-lifetime encounter.

Day 4

Return to Entebbe or Kampala

Return to Entebbe or Kampala

After having breakfast, you will set off for the drive back to Kampala or Entebbe. The route provides more chances to admire Uganda’s landscapes, with a scheduled lunch stop. As you proceed toward the central region, you’ll pause at the Equator crossing near Masaka to shop for souvenirs, and enjoy a drink. The journey then continues until you reach Entebbe Airport or your hotel in Kampala, concluding your safari.
