Day 1

Nairobi Hotel/Airport - Masai Mara National Reserve

Nairobi Hotel/Airport - Masai Mara National Reserve

You will be picked up by a Marula Horizon Safaris representative from your Nairobi hotel, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, or a nearby location. After a brief safari introduction, you will depart in a comfortable vehicle toward the Masai Mara, with a scenic stop at the Great Rift Valley escarpment to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

You will arrive at Flair Camp Experience Mara (or a similar camp) and check in for lunch at around 12:00 p.m. After lunch and some time to relax, you will embark on an afternoon game drive from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., searching for the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo—along with other wildlife in the reserve. In the evening, you will return to the camp for dinner and overnight stay. The accommodation features well-furnished tents with hot showers and buffet-style meals served according to your preferences.

Day 2

Masai Mara Game Viewing

Masai Mara Game Viewing

After breakfast, you will depart with packed lunch boxes for a full-day game drive, exploring the Masai Mara and its abundant wildlife. Early mornings are ideal for spotting animals, especially the big cats, and your experienced driver/guide will ensure the best possible sightings. You may encounter the Big Five, as well as wildebeests, topi, giraffes, cheetahs, and more, all set against the picturesque African savannah, dotted with acacia trees that give the Mara its nickname, “spotted land.”

You will visit the Mara River to observe crocodiles and hippos, and between June and November, you may witness the spectacular wildebeest migration, one of the world’s most remarkable natural events. An optional visit to a Masai village can also be arranged to experience local culture.

Dinner and overnight stay will be at the same camp or lodge. Guests may also choose to enjoy an optional hot air balloon ride or sundowner experience on this day for a unique perspective of the Mara.

Day 3

Maasai Village - Lake Nakuru National Park

After an early breakfast, you will visit a Maasai village from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. to experience the culture, traditions, and daily life of the Maasai people. Following this, you will depart for Lake Nakuru National Park.

You can check in for lunch at Eldorado Rustic Hotel & Gardens around 12:00 p.m., or, if you prefer, enjoy a packed lunch in the park to maximize your time on the game drive. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive in search of white and black rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, lions, leopards, and other wildlife. Lake Nakuru is also famous for its over 450 bird species, acacia forests, and the alkaline lake home to thousands of lesser flamingos, pelicans, and hippos.

Later, you will return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4

After breakfast at your lodge, you will depart for Lake Naivasha, one of Kenya’s most beautiful freshwater lakes, nestled in the Great Rift Valley. Upon arrival, enjoy a boat ride on the lake, where you can observe hippos, fish eagles, kingfishers, and other birdlife amidst papyrus swamps and serene waters.

Following the boat ride, take a guided walk at Crescent Island, a private sanctuary where giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and other herbivores roam freely. This walking safari provides a unique opportunity to experience wildlife up close while enjoying the park’s stunning grasslands and acacia-dotted hills—perfect for photography and immersion in nature.

After this memorable experience, you will depart for Amboseli National Park, traveling through scenic landscapes and local villages in the Rift Valley. You will arrive at Little Amanya Camp in time for dinner, where you can relax in the peaceful surroundings with Mount Kilimanjaro as a breathtaking backdrop.

After an early pre-breakfast, you will depart for a morning game drive in Amboseli National Park. This is an excellent opportunity to get close to the park’s wildlife, including its famous elephant herds, especially the matriarchs—the wise, old female leaders of the herds. Keep an eye out for lions, zebras, giraffes, and the park’s rich birdlife as you explore the stunning savannah landscapes with Mount Kilimanjaro as your backdrop.

After returning briefly to the camp, you will continue with an afternoon game drive, enjoying a picnic lunch in the park while spotting more wildlife and photographing the breathtaking scenery. Amboseli is renowned for its large elephant populations and the iconic views of Kilimanjaro, providing unforgettable safari experiences.

You will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, relaxing under the peaceful African skies and reflecting on a full day of wildlife encounters.

After an early breakfast and check-out, you will depart for Emali to board your 9:30 a.m. first-class train to Mombasa. Enjoy a comfortable and scenic ride through Kenya’s countryside. You will arrive at Mombasa station around 2:00 p.m., where a transfer vehicle will be waiting to take you to your hotel or onward to Nairobi, depending on your plans.

This marks the end of your safari tour with Marula Horizon Safaris, leaving you with unforgettable memories of Kenya’s wildlife, landscapes, and culture.
