The name “Serengeti” comes from the Maasai word Siringet, meaning “endless plains.”

The park is home to the world-renowned Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move across the plains in search of fresh grazing and water. This natural spectacle also attracts predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas, making the Serengeti one of the best places in Africa to witness dramatic wildlife encounters.
