Today you will land at Kilimanjaro International Airport. You will be met by your private Shadows of Africa driver, he will be waiting for you with a signboard with your name written on it. From the airport you will be whisked away to your hotel to recover from your flight and enjoy your first taste of African hospitality. Upon request, Shadows of Africa can assist in arranging additional guided tours and day trips. After a good night's rest you will be ready for the start of your safari tomorrow!
The drive from Kilimanjaro International Airport to Arusha takes approximately 1.5 hour.

Day 2
Arusha - Tarangire National Park
Arusha - Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, you proceed to Tarangire National Park for a game drive.
Once inside the park, you explore vast golden savannahs surrounding the Tarangire River, a permanent water source essential for wildlife, especially during the dry season. The riverbanks, lined with acacia trees and iconic baobabs, attract large elephant herds, as well as zebras, antelopes, and other herbivores.
You will enjoy a picnic lunch with views over the river, while keeping an eye on the playful monkeys often trying to get close to your meal.
As you continue your game drive, you may encounter lions, leopards, Cape buffalo, and a wide variety of antelopes. With some luck, you might also spot rarer species such as the Greater Kudu or Fringe-eared Oryx.
After your game drive, you return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3
Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, we depart for Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as the Eighth Wonder of the World. At the panoramic viewpoint, you will enjoy breathtaking views over this vast green caldera.
Home to over 120 species of mammal including the fabled Big Five, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of the most sought after safari destinations in the world. It's a particularly good place to see the endangered black rhinoceros enjoying a lonely meal out on the grass plains, as well as a place to see large numbers of hippopotamus enjoying the cool water.
From your open-top vehicle, you will have excellent chances to observe a wide variety of wildlife. The crater hosts predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, and hyenas, alongside wildebeest, zebras, antelopes, and Cape buffalo.
You will enjoy a picnic lunch at the park’s famous hippo pool before continuing your game drive and returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4
Karatu - Lake Manyara - Zanzibar

This morning you drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive.
The park is truly a photographer's playground and offers excellent game viewing in a scenic setting. You can expect to see many of Africa’s most well-known animals, with the tree-climbing lions a particular highlight. These predators are often seen resting in acacia trees, offering great photographic opportunities.
Lake Manyara is also a paradise for bird-watchers, with a wide variety of species in the park. Expect large flocks of flamingos, birds of prey circling above, and the brightly coloured lilac-breasted roller.
Arusha - Zanzibar Stone Town
After your visit, you will proceed to Arusha airport for your flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival, a driver will transfer you to your Stone Town accommodation.
Stone Town offers a wide choice of restaurants, and many travellers prefer to explore on their own during an evening stroll. No meals are included unless requested in advance.

Today you'll be taken by your driver to your next beach accommodation.
Before leaving, we suggest you to take time to explore Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site rich in history and culture. Wander through its narrow streets, discover intricately carved wooden doors, lively markets, and historic buildings influenced by Arab, Persian, Indian, and European heritage. Enjoy the unique atmosphere of this vibrant town before heading to the coast.

Jambiani has a beautiful 7 km long beach with swaying palms. In contrary to some beaches in the north, this beach has powdery white sand and hardly any rocks or sea-urchins. The broad lagoon of swallow water is perfect for wading, snorkeling and diving and offers an excellent view of the marine. Thanks to its steady sideshore winds, Jambiani is also an ideal spot for wind- or kitesurfing. A high tide it’s nice to swim in the Indian Ocean and at low tide you can enjoy a nice beach walk.

Today you can relax by the pool until it is time for you to be transferred to the Zanzibar airport for your flight home. Time permitting, you can also add a private guided walking tour of the historic Stone Town.
