Your safari adventure begins with an early morning departure from Dar es Salaam, either by road or scheduled flight to the vast wilderness of Nyerere National Park, formerly known as Selous Game Reserve. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a boat safari along the Rufiji River, giving you your first opportunity to witness Tanzania’s rich wildlife along the riverbanks.

After check-in at Selous Safari Lodge, you can unwind and take in the peaceful surroundings overlooking the Rufiji River. In the afternoon, you will head out for either a boat safari or a guided walking safari, offering a closer and more immersive experience of the park’s diverse ecosystem.

After breakfast, depart for Mikumi National Park via a scenic drive through rural Tanzania and the Uluguru Mountains. Arrive in Mikumi in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon/evenning game drive.
Mikumi is known for its open savannah, often compared to the Serengeti, making wildlife viewing easier. Expect to see zebras, wildebeest, lions, and a variety of bird species.
