Its fresh waters are fringed with dense papyrus clumps – once used by ancient Egyptians for paper-making. Kingfishers perch among the reeds while herons stalk the shallows. With over 400 bird species recorded, Naivasha is a birder's paradise. The lake is also a favourite weekend retreat for Nairobi residents who sail, water-ski, and fish here.
