Your “Road to the Ocean” safari begins with a morning departure from Nairobi as you travel towards Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s most iconic safari destinations. The drive takes you through changing landscapes before reaching the open plains of Amboseli, famous for its large elephant herds and, on clear days, breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch and some rest before heading out for an afternoon game drive. This first safari gives you a chance to spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes, lions and many bird species while enjoying the beautiful scenery of southern Kenya.

Amboseli to Taita Hills | Safari Through Tsavo Landscapes

After breakfast, leave Amboseli and continue your journey towards the Taita Hills / Tsavo area. This region offers a beautiful contrast to Amboseli, with scenic hills, open plains and classic dry-country landscapes. Enjoy a safari as you explore the reserve, searching for elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes and, with some luck, predators moving through the area. The Taita Hills area is part of the greater Tsavo ecosystem and offers a quieter, more intimate safari atmosphere. This day continues the “Road to the Ocean” experience, combining wildlife viewing with a scenic overland journey towards the Kenyan coast.

Morning Safari & Road to Diani Beach

Start the day with a morning safari, when the air is cooler and wildlife is often more active. Enjoy your final game drive in the Taita Hills / Tsavo area, with a chance to look for animals one last time before leaving the wilderness behind. After the safari, continue by road towards Diani Beach on the Indian Ocean coast. This route is a beautiful way to combine safari and beach without taking a domestic flight. By the end of the day, the landscapes change from savannah and bushland to the tropical atmosphere of Kenya’s coast, marking the perfect transition from safari adventure to beach relaxation.
