Dar es salaam to Nyerere National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or preferred location in Dar es Salaam. Meet your professional safari driver-guide and depart by road towards Nyerere National Park, formerly known as the Selous Game Reserve.

The journey takes approximately 4–5 hours, depending on road and traffic conditions, with scenic views of rural Tanzania along the way. Upon arrival in the Nyerere area, you will proceed to your accommodation and check in.
After some time to settle in and enjoy lunch, prepare for one of the highlights of the safari: an afternoon boat safari along the magnificent Rufiji River.

As you cruise along the river and its channels, keep your camera ready for sightings of large pods of hippos, crocodiles basking along the riverbanks, elephants coming to drink, and numerous species of water birds.
After the boat safari, return to the camp for dinner and relaxation around the campfire, weather permitting.

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast at the camp before setting out for a full-day game drive through Nyerere National Park.

Nyerere National Park is one of Tanzania's largest protected areas and offers a remarkable combination of diverse landscapes, riverine habitats, woodland and open plains. The park is particularly known for its large concentrations of wildlife and its spectacular wilderness scenery.

The park is also home to predators such as lions, leopards and African wild dogs, although sightings of these animals are naturally dependent on luck, location and wildlife activity on the day.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wilderness, allowing you to maximize your time inside the park before continuing with the afternoon game drive.

As the afternoon progresses, begin your drive back towards the camp for your dinner and overnight.

Nyerere National Park to Dar es salaam

Rise early for your final safari experience a guided walking safari in the Nyerere area.

Walking provides a completely different perspective of the African wilderness. Accompanied by a qualified and experienced guide, you will explore the environment on foot, learning to recognize animal tracks, signs, plants, insects and other smaller details that can easily be missed during a vehicle safari.

The early morning is an ideal time for walking because temperatures are cooler and wildlife activity is often higher. Your guide will ensure that the walk is conducted responsibly and with appropriate attention to safety.
After the walking safari, return to camp for breakfast and some time to freshen up and prepare for departure.
Check out and begin your drive back to Dar es Salaam.

Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will be dropped off at your hotel, residence, airport or another agreed location, marking the end of your 3-day Nyerere National Park safari.
