Fly from Zanzibar & Private Game Drive

Your safari begins with a transfer from your Zanzibar hotel to the airport for your scheduled flight to Mtemere Airstrip. Meet your professional guide and set off on a private daytime game drive in an open-sided 4x4 through Nyerere National Park. Explore woodland, lakes and open plains in search of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions and varied birdlife, with a packed lunch along the way. In the late afternoon, transfer to Selous Mapumziko Lodge, just outside the park, for dinner and your first night beside the Rufiji River. Flight times and the length of the game drive depend on the confirmed airline schedule.

Private Game Drive & Hot Spring Visit

After breakfast, head into Nyerere National Park for a private daytime game drive in an open-sided 4x4 with your professional guide. Explore the park’s varied habitats in search of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, antelope and predators, with time to enjoy a packed lunch. During the day, visit the hot spring and discover another side of the park’s natural landscape. Your guide will plan the route around wildlife movements and local conditions. Return to Selous Mapumziko Lodge in the late afternoon for dinner and your second overnight stay beside the Rufiji River. Wildlife sightings depend on natural conditions.

Bush Walk, Boat Safari & Maasai Village Tour

Begin your final day with a guided bush walk near the lodge, discovering local plants, tracks and birdlife on foot. After breakfast, enjoy a boat safari on the Rufiji River, looking for hippos, crocodiles and birds along the banks. Visit a Maasai village to learn about local traditions and daily life, with time to meet your hosts and ask questions. Then transfer to Mtemere Airstrip for your scheduled return flight to Zanzibar, where our driver will take you back to your hotel. An afternoon return flight is required to allow time for all three activities; their order and timing will follow the confirmed flight schedule. No accommodation is included on this final day.
