After breakfast in Moshi, drive to Machame Gate where you complete park registration and meet your mountain crew. Begin trekking through the lush rainforest, where the trail winds beneath towering trees and dense vegetation. The gradual ascent provides an opportunity to settle into a comfortable walking rhythm while your guide monitors your pace. Look out for birds and monkeys along the way before reaching Machame Camp, where your crew prepares dinner and your first mountain campsite.

Day 2
Machame Camp – Shira Camp

After breakfast, leave the rainforest behind as the trail becomes steeper and vegetation gradually changes into moorland. Trek across rocky terrain toward the Shira Plateau, enjoying increasingly expansive views of Mount Meru and the surrounding landscape when weather permits. Your guide maintains a steady pace to support acclimatization. Arrive at Shira Camp in the afternoon, settle into your tent and rest while the crew prepares dinner before another night at altitude.

Day 3
Shira Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp

Today's route is important for acclimatization as you climb toward Lava Tower before descending to Barranco Camp. Trek through increasingly rocky alpine terrain while the landscape becomes more dramatic and vegetation more sparse. After reaching the Lava Tower area, descend toward the Barranco Valley, allowing your body to adjust to the higher altitude. The imposing Barranco Wall comes into view as you approach camp, where you spend the evening resting and preparing for the next day's climb.

Day 4
Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
Begin the day with the exciting ascent of the Barranco Wall. Although steep in places, the route is manageable with the guidance of your experienced mountain crew. Continue across ridges and valleys toward Karanga Camp, with spectacular views of Kilimanjaro's southern slopes and glaciers when conditions allow. The shorter trekking day provides valuable time to rest and acclimatize before moving toward Barafu Camp and the summit zone.

Day 5
Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp
Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp
After breakfast, trek toward Barafu Camp across increasingly barren alpine terrain. The landscape becomes rocky and vegetation almost disappears as you approach the high-altitude summit zone. Arrive at Barafu Camp and have an early meal before resting for the summit attempt. Your guide will brief you about the night ahead, including pacing, hydration and clothing. Try to sleep early because the summit trek begins around midnight or shortly afterward.

Day 6
Barafu – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp

Wake around midnight and begin the demanding summit ascent under the stars. Trek slowly toward Stella Point while navigating steep scree and cold high-altitude terrain. Continue along the crater rim toward Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, where you can celebrate your achievement and take photographs. After the summit, descend through Barafu toward the Mweka route and continue to Mweka Camp. The descent provides a welcome change in altitude after the summit effort.

Day 7

Enjoy your final mountain breakfast before descending through the lushening forest toward Mweka Gate. The trail becomes greener as you lose altitude, offering a refreshing contrast to the alpine environment experienced higher on Kilimanjaro. At the gate, complete the park formalities and say farewell to your mountain crew. Your driver will meet you for the transfer back to Moshi, where you can shower, relax and celebrate your successful Kilimanjaro climb.
