Meet and Greet, Have Breakfast, and Later Proceed to Mbarara Pass via the Equator

Your driver/guide will meet you at your accommodation at 7:00 am. An early morning start from Kampala takes you southwest and across the Equator. You'll drive through savanna grasslands seeing banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle, famous for their incredibly long horns. You'll then ascend into the Kigezi highlands, known as the "Switzerland of Africa", with terraced farming and mountain scenery, and continue your drive on to Bwindi (9-10 hour drive).

Gorilla Trek and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

You will have an early morning breakfast and move to the park headquarters to join other trackers in a briefing about the gorilla trekking rules at 7:45 am. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the gorillas, which can take you 1-8 hours. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access by tourists. You will have one hour to stay with the gorillas once sited and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. The drive will be through a beautiful part of the country often referred to as ‘the Switzerland of Africa’ because of its unique cool weather despite being near the Equator. This lake is said to be one of the most beautiful places in western Uganda. It is the second deepest lake in Africa [900 meters deep] and also one of the few places in the country where it is considered safe to swim as it is bilharzias free. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at Hawk's Eye Lodge.

Take a boat ride and and Transfer to Entebbe

Wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast take a canoe onLake Bunyonyi before you end you' stay in the "Land of the mountain gorillas". You will depart with great memories of the moments spent with the fascinating mountain gorillas. Transfer back to Kampala with lunch en-route. Then proceed to Entebbe Airport where you will catch your flight back home.
