A representative of African Sunset Safaris Limited will pick you up at Jomo Kenyatta Airport. The driver will either head straight to your hotel depending on your time of arrival or we can schedule some activities, e.g The Nairobi Giraffe Centre, and the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, visiting the markets and doing a walking tour of the city are great activities to participate in. You will check in at the Hotel where you will have dinner and turn in for the night.

Day 2

Nairobi - Maasai Mara

After breakfast you will travel to Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Upon arrival you will check-in to the Lodge and spend the next two days taking part in exciting game drives in the early morning hours and in the evening. This is the best time for chances to see a wide variety of animals. On clear days the Mara displays fantastic orange tinted sunsets that you will definitely want to capture while sipping on a sundowner back at your lodge. The Mara reserve is an incredible wide-open landscape with fertile river woodland following the looping meanders of the Mara and Talek Rivers. Wherever you go in the Mara you will see a variety of wildlife such as giraffe, baboon, warthog, bat eared fox, grey jackal, spotted hyena, topi, impala, hartebeest, wildebeest, elephant, buffalo, zebra, and hippo.

Day 3

Maasai Mara

Wherever you go in the vast Maasai Mara you will see an abundance of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboon, warthog, bat eared fox, grey jackal, spotted hyena, topi, impala, hartebeest, wildebeest, elephant, buffalo, zebra, and hippo. It is also common to see lion either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetah and leopard are harder to spot, but fairly common. The ultimate action here is without a doubt the annual wildebeest migration in July and August when millions of the grass eaters move north from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October. Hot-air balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains teeming with wildlife. These Maasai Mara balloon trips can be arranged at extra cost. You will overnight at the tented camp near Maasai Mara on day two and three.

Day 4

Maasai Mara - Nakuru

After an early breakfast you will leave the Mara and travel to Nakuru arriving in time for lunch and check-in at flamingo lodge. The park is home to warthog, waterbuck, buffalo, reedbuck, and the occasional leopard. White and black rhino were introduced to the park some years ago and you may find white rhino at the southern end. The park has also built its reputation as an ornithologists’ delight with more than 400 species of bird found here. Later in the day you will enjoy an evening game drive at Nakuru National Park before returning to the hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 5

Lake Naivasha

After breakfast you can take a boat ride on Lake Naivasha; bird-watching is the biggest draw of Naivasha, and the best way to see the beautiful winged creatures. Your boatman will likely show you how eagles prey on fishes on the lake. Later you can go for a tour of the Hell’s Gate National Park, the only one in Kenya, under the government, where biking is permitted. The park got its name from the vast open areas, dry glass, and passage created by the steep walls of two very high cliffs. In prehistoric times a river flowed through this gap. The river has long since dried up. You will return to the hotel in the evening for dinner and your overnight stay.

You will rise early to enjoy a delicious breakfast at your hotel and then check-out, before departing by road to travel to the Amboseli National Park. This park is famous for its breathtaking views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The Park also shelters more than 420 species of birds. An enormous elephant population and other big game are attracted to the area by underground springs fed from the melting snows of Kilimanjaro. You will arrive at the lodge in time for lunch and then take off on a planned afternoon game drive. You will return to the lodge and enjoy a scrumptious dinner before turning in for the night.

Day 7

You will rise early and enjoy breakfast among the views of Mount Kilimanjaro before the clouds build up over the summit. After breakfast you will set off for a ‘Spice’ game drive. Amboseli is an excellent place to view a multitude of wildlife, including everything from wildebeest to giraffe to baboon. A visit to a Maasai village is planned and then midday finds you back at the lodge for lunch and some afternoon rest and relaxation, followed by another ‘Spice’ game drive. Amboseli is home to the legendary Maasai tribesmen. Maasai warriors are a famous and proud nomadic tribe whose legendary prowess in battle and single-handed acts of bravery in fights with the wild animals are known across the world. You will return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 8

You will rise early for a sunrise morning game drive and then return to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast you will check-out and start off to the Namanga border for exchange of vehicles and your journey to Tanzania. This a more relaxed day since your travels Tanzania it will take roughly two hours. You will arrive at the Hotel, check-in and enjoy your later afternoon by the poolside. Later in the evening you will enjoy dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 9

Arusha - Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast you will check-out and make your way to the Ngorongoro Crater arriving at lunch time. You will drive to Empakaal Crater through Ngorongoro Embulbul depression and Ngamat wild arrears. Lunch will be at the Empakaal Crater Inn. After lunch, with the help of driver/guides you will make your way to the crater floor through the forested wall. All the “Big Five” may be seen. Other species include the cheetah, elephant, gazelle, common zebra, wildebeest and spotted hyena. Both lesser and greater flamingo can also be seen on Crater Lake. Climbing the wall back to the land rover is an excellent afternoon exercise as you make your way to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

After breakfast you will travel to the Serengeti National Park, going through the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind you will descend into the heart of wild Africa, the Serengeti National Park, with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. You will head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. You will arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Dinner and your overnight stay will be in the Seronera area.

Day 11

After breakfast you head out on a game drive along the Sogore River Circuit, which loops into the plains south of the Seronera River. This route is good for lion, gazelle, topi, ostrich and cheetah sightings. The visitor’s center, not far from the Lodge and public campsites is worth a visit after the game drive. The center also has a shop where cold drinks and snacks can be purchased, as well as a picnic area and information trail up and around a nearby kopje. We will enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch at the centre in the shade of the giant acacia trees. In the afternoon you will follow the Kopjes Circuit, going anti-clockwise around the Maasai Kopjes, which usually attract a number of lion and some formidably large cobras. Kopjes are weathered granite outcrops, scattered around the plains, most of which are miniature ecosystems, providing shade and drinking water in pools left in the rock after the rains. Later in the evening you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
