Day 1

Mababe Depression

Mababe Depression

We will depart from Maun at the crack of dawn on our 6- to 7-hour journey to the Mababe Depression. The Mababe Depression is a vast landscape that is reached after crossing over an ancient sand ridge and is a haven for wildlife in the dry season. When the seasonal pans are still holding water in the wet season, herds of zebra and other herbivores concentrate on the nutritious grasses. We will have brunch on our way and stretch our legs. We will arrive at the camp at around 3 pm and rest. Once the temperature drops, we will set out for our afternoon game drive to familiarize ourselves with our surroundings. Upon return, there will be a supper by the campfire where we will enjoy activities and storytelling.

You will then retreat to your tent equipped with a stretcher bed, a veranda and an attached bathroom with a flushable toilet, shower and hand basin. The safari is non-participatory and chores will be done by the staff.

Day 2

Savuti Day Trip

Savuti Day Trip

We will enjoy a light breakfast before we head out to Savuti. Savuti is best known for its captivating channel. It runs a distance of roughly 100km from the Chobe River through a gap in the sand ridge and up to the Mababe Depression. Savuti is also famous for its predators. Birding is a popular activity in this area and you can spot species such as kori bustards (national bird) and secretary birds which can be seen trotting about the vast Savuti marsh.

We will stop for lunch and learn a bit more about Savuti’s desert-like landscape, characterized by its loose, hot sand. Undoubtedly, it is the interaction between lion and elephant that is the most interesting aspect of Savuti. The marsh is prime cheetah country, and in the wet season, it is not unusual to have wild dogs hunting here in Savuti.

Day 3

Khwai

Khwai

The Khwai Concession runs along the Khwai River, bordering the northern part of Moremi. This part of the Okavango Delta always remains very active with game. Some of the game in these areas include elephants, giraffes, lions, jackals, buffalos, cheetahs, wildebeests, hyenas, and zebras. Khwai is a village on the Northern bank of the Khwai River in the North-West District of Botswana. The river is the Northern boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve and the village is just outside the Northern gate of the reserve on the eastern side of the Okavango Delta. Khwai boasts all that the Moremi does, after all, it is in the greater part of the reserve, and there are no fences that prohibit wildlife from moving across. We will spend the day exploring this amazing place.

You will then retreat to your tent equipped with a stretcher bed, a veranda and an attached bathroom with flushable toilet, shower and hand basin. The safari is non-participatory and chores will be done by the staff.
