Off to the land of the gentle giants of Bwindi
After breakfast, drive south through the remote Ishasha sector, where iconic tree-climbing lions often laze in fig trees. Your guide scans carefully—this is one of Africa’s rarest lion behaviors. This section is home to the tree-climbing lions. While lions do often climb trees around Africa, the lions of Ishasha prefer to spend most of their day in the trees.
Continue into the emerald hills of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, arriving at your lodge with views of thick, ancient rainforest. This is a slower-paced afternoon for families to rest, meet your trekking coordinator, and prepare for the next day’s extraordinary gorilla experience. Once at your accommodation, settle in and prepare for the next day's great trek. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in southwestern Uganda.
