The Acient Ones, A Day with Hadzabe and Datoga

After a wholesome breakfast, set off for Lake Eyasi, a remote, shimmering soda lake at the foot of the Ngorongoro Highlands, for one of the most extraordinary human encounters you will ever have. Spend the morning with the Hadzabe people, one of the world's last surviving hunter-gatherer communities, whose way of life has remained virtually unchanged for over ten thousand years. Watch them hunt with handmade bows and arrows, gather wild berries, and communicate in their ancient click language, a humbling and deeply moving window into humanity's earliest story.

Afterwards, visit the neighbouring Datoga community, master craftsmen and pastoralists, and admire their intricate metalwork and rich cultural traditions. Return to your lodge in Karatu for a relaxed lunch and a quiet, reflective afternoon, because after a morning like that, the world looks a little different.

Spend the morning and afternoon on guided game drives across the ancient crater floor, where lions, elephants, black rhinos, hippos, and thousands of flamingos coexist in breathtaking abundance. A picnic lunch inside the crater keeps the adventure uninterrupted before one final game drive brings this incredible journey to a close.

In the late afternoon, ascend the crater rim and begin the drive back to Arusha, where our team will ensure your smooth and seamless transfer to the airport for your onward flight, leaving Tanzania with memories that will stay with you for a lifetime.
