Arrival in Entebbe and Travel to Mgahinga National Park

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by one of our experienced driver guides who will be with you for the entire duration of the safari. After exchanging pleasantries, you will go through the travel program before starting the journey to Mgahinga National Park. The drive to the park takes approximately 8 hours, passing through beautiful countryside scenery and small towns along the way.
On the journey, you will stop at the equator crossing to take some pictures and learn about the geographical significance of the equator. You will also have an opportunity to stretch your legs and buy some souvenirs at the nearby shops. You will then continue the journey to Mbarara, where you will stop for lunch before proceeding to the national park. On arrival at Mgahinga National Park, you will check-in at your lodge, have dinner, and rest in preparation for the next day's activities.

Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga – Batwa Cultural Trail

After an early breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters where you will meet the park rangers who will brief you on the rules of gorilla trekking. The rangers will also verify your gorilla trekking permit during the briefing.
Setting off into the forest in search of gorilla family. The trek to find the gorillas can take up to an hour, and along the way, you will see various forest creatures such as birds, chameleons, and monkeys. You will have an hour to observe and take pictures of them as they go about their daily activities.
After the trek, you will return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will visit the indigenous Batwa communities living in the park for a cultural experience who were displaced from their ancestral forest home to create Mgahinga National Park. During the trail, you will learn about their traditional way of life, hunt, and identify herbs for treating common ailments. You will then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Travel back to Entebbe for Departure

On the final day of your safari, you will have breakfast at your lodge and then check out. You will then begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe, passing through the scenic Kigezi highlands and Mbarara-Masaka highway. You will stop for lunch at the Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara before continuing the journey to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
Alternatively, if you do not have a flight on this day, you can choose to spend some time exploring Kampala or doing other activities before your departure.
