Your driver-guide reports to your hotel for the start of the safari, with a departure for a picturesque drive descending the Great Rift Valley and onwards to Masai Mara, Kenya's famous game reserve. Stop briefly en route at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint to enjoy the stunning views of an enormous valley system said to be visible from outer space. You'll arrive in Masai Mara in time for lunch. After lunch, you'll go for an afternoon game drive, which will allow spotting of the magnificent wildlife in the park. The reserve is known for providing excellent predator sightings thanks to its relatively large population of lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Day 2
Masai Mara National Reserve
Masai Mara National Reserve
You will be taken on two game drives today, in the morning before breakfast and the late afternoon. Early mornings and late afternoons are considered the best times to spot animals as they are most active. To get some of the best wildlife viewing of the day, an early start is needed to beat the heat of the sun. This is the time that the big cats are most active and can provide some of the most dramatic photography, thanks to the beautiful lighting. Although it might be tempting to stay in bed and wait until the afternoon to explore, I promise you this is a game drive you don’t want to miss. This is an experience that will surely create lifetime memories. If you are fortunate enough, you will catch lions during one of their rare bouts of daytime activities. It’ll be fascinating to watch the social interaction between pride members, especially the playful ways of lion cubs under the watchful eyes of their mothers. The reserve is famous for the wildebeest migration.
