3-Day Adventure in Nyerere NP from Zanzibar by Ferry

Safari from Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park & Sunset Boat Safari

You will be picked up from your hotel in Zanzibar at 6:00am and taken to the Zanzibar ferry. The ferry departs at 7:00am, and you will arrive in Dar Es Salaam at approximately 8:30am. Upon arrival, you will meet your driver or guide and begin your safari at 8:40am with a packed lunch.

The drive to Nyerere National Park takes about 4 to 5 hours (217km/134mi). You are expected to arrive at the park by 2:40pm, where you can relax at the camp for a short while.

In the afternoon, around 4:00pm, you will depart the lodge for a sunset boat safari. This cruise typically lasts for 2 hours and offers incredible views of hippos grunting, crocodiles basking on the banks, and abundant birdlife, all set against a stunning sunset. After your boat safari, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Full-Day Guided Game Drive at Nyerere National Park

You will start your day with a hearty breakfast to energize you before setting off on an unforgettable journey into the vast expanse of Nyerere National Park. Here, you will encounter many elephants, majestic buffalo, a pride of lions, graceful giraffes, striped zebras and beautiful impalas. Nyerere National Park is particularly renowned for its high population of African wild dogs, which exceeds that of any other national park in Tanzania.

During the day, you will take a break for a picnic lunch, enjoying delicious food from a safe vantage point. This will give you a chance to soak in the breathtaking scenery while keeping a watchful eye out for wildlife in their natural habitat.

You will return to the lodge around 5:00pm, where a delectable dinner awaits you. An overnight stay will ensure you are ready for more incredible adventures the following day.

Walking Safari and Return to Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar

Start your day with a refreshing cup of coffee before embarking on an exciting walking safari, guided by an armed ranger. This safari lasts around 2 to 3 hours and departs from camp at approximately 6:30am. The park's diverse landscapes, which range from dense thickets to open wooded grasslands, are ready for you to explore. Walking safaris offer a fantastic opportunity to get close to nature and learn about smaller species. You may even spot some giraffes or walk in the footsteps of elephants. Our walking safaris are designed to help you identify animal tracks and signs, while also providing fascinating information about the insects, trees and colorful birdlife in the area.

After your safari, you will return to the lodge for a full breakfast. Following breakfast, you will check out and return to the Dar es Salaam ferry. The transfer from the ferry to Zanzibar will take place between 4:00pm and 5:30pm. Upon your arrival, our driver will take you to any hotel or airport in Zanzibar.
