In the afternoon, you’ll explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run eco-tourism site known for its rich biodiversity. This guided nature walk offers your first close encounter with Uganda’s primates, including black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and more. Keep your binoculars ready—Bigodi is also a haven for wetland birds, such as the majestic great blue turaco.

Start your day with an early breakfast, then head to the Kanyanchu Tourist Center in Kibale National Park for an unforgettable guided primate walk. Embark on a thrilling trek through the tropical forest in search of wild chimpanzees, our closest relatives in the animal kingdom. Witness these incredible creatures in their natural habitat, a truly awe-inspiring experience.

After your chimpanzee trekking adventure, we’ll continue our journey toward the renowned Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to the majestic mountain gorillas. The drive takes us through the scenic highlands, reaching altitudes over 2,900 meters (9,500 feet), so be prepared for cooler temperatures, especially in the evening.

Your day begins with an early start as your Topi Tours guide will take you to the gorilla trekking briefing site at 8:00 AM. After the briefing, you'll set off on your gorilla trekking adventure through the dense landscape of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The forest is a full of lush vegetation crisscrossed by animal trails, providing the perfect environment for these magnificent creatures.

The time for finding the gorillas can vary depending on their movements, but the thrill of locating them is part of the adventure. Observing the gorillas in their natural habitat is an incredible and rare experience. These shy and peaceful animals interact with one another in ways that are both touching and fascinating, offering a unique opportunity for both photography and personal reflection.

After your gorilla trek, you’ll continue your journey to Kisoro, where you’ll spend the night on the beautiful shores of Lake Mutanda. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and stunning views of the lake.

After your stay at the serene Lake Mutanda, we’ll set off for a golden monkey trekking adventure in Mgahinga National Park. These vibrant and playful monkeys, easily recognizable by their striking golden fur, are found only in Mgahinga NP in Uganda and the neighboring Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. You’ll have the chance to observe these fascinating creatures as they move through the forest in large, dynamic groups, always on the lookout for food.

Following the trek, you’ll return to the lodge to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch while reflecting on the morning’s unique wildlife encounter.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit a Batwa community, the indigenous people of the region. The Batwa once lived in the forests of Mgahinga and Bwindi but were relocated when the areas were designated as national parks. This cultural visit will provide insight into their traditional way of life, customs, and stories, offering a deeper understanding of the local heritage.

Today, we bid farewell to the primate-rich forests of Kibale and embark on our journey back toward central Uganda. We’ll travel south, heading toward the border of Lake Mburo National Park, where we’ll spend the night.

Upon arrival at the lodge, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to unwind. Relax by the pool with a refreshing drink, enjoying the tranquil surroundings. This peaceful setting provides an ideal moment to reflect on the unforgettable experiences of the past days—whether it was trekking through lush forests, observing wild primates, or marveling at the breathtaking landscapes.
