Day 1

Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Akagera National Park

Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Akagera National Park

On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative who will give a short briefing about the safari then proceed to Akagera National Park arriving in the evening. Check into your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2

Game Viewing and Boat Ride

Game Viewing and Boat Ride

Have early breakfast and head to the park for an early morning game drive offering you an opportunity to spot a variety of wild animals such as elephants, buffaloes, lions, Masai giraffes, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard and bushbuck among others. Return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon you will head out for a boat trip along Lake Ihema where you will have a closer look at water animals like hippos and crocodiles and over 525 species of water birds including the shoe billed stocks, papyrus gonolek and endemics like Jacanas, Ibis, Sandpipers and Herons. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Transfer to Volcanoes national park

Transfer to Volcanoes national park

After breakfast, you will begin your journey back to Kigali, then continue north to Volcanoes National Park (Parc National des Volcans)—home of the iconic mountain gorillas and the highlight of this safari.

You’ll arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing walk in the nearby forests, with beautiful scenic views and a chance to experience the local culture. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4

Gorilla tracking

Gorilla tracking

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing about the dos and don'ts of Gorilla Trekking, you will join other trekkers in groups of 8 people, and with armed rangers and guides you will enter into the jungle in search for mountain gorillas. You will hike on slippery and muddy volcanoes in search of mountain gorillas which will take about 3-5 hours. When you find the gorillas, you will spend 1 hour in the presence of the gorillas while watching them as they go on with their lives and take pictures of them.

Return to the park’s headquarters to be rewarded with gorilla certificates then head back to your lodge, in the evening you will have a visit to the scenic twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5

Golden Monkey Trekking & Depature

Golden Monkey Trekking & Depature

After an early breakfast, head into Volcanoes National Park for an unforgettable Golden Monkey trekking experience. These lively and endangered primates offer a truly unique encounter in their natural bamboo forest habitat.

After the trek, return to the lodge for a delicious lunch and a moment to freshen up.

In the afternoon, we drive back to Kigali, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport for your departure flight back home.
