Transfer to Volcanoes National Park with a visit to the Gorilla Guardians Village

After your morning breakfast, you will be picked by an Otters African Safaris Guide and you will start your journey to Volcanoes National Park. It’s a 3 hours journey from Kigali as you will enjoy the scenic views of the hills on your way to Musanze. You will arrive at the lodge, have lunch and check into the lodge.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Gorilla Guardians Village where you will learn about the local culture of the community through interactive demonstrations and performances. After that you will return to the lodge for overnight stay and dinner.

Gorilla Trekking and Visit to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of Dian Fossey

After your morning breakfast, you will then report at the park headquarters for a briefing about the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas. Remember to carry your packed lunch and enough drinking water since you may stay in the forest up to afternoon in search of these gentle giants in their natural environment. When you locate the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour in the presence of the gorillas observing the gorilla troop go on with its daily life, babies playing on tree branches, silverbacks protecting the group and others picking vegetation to eat. After the gorilla experience you will return to the park’s headquarters for the awarding of certificates. Afterwards, you will return to the lodge for relaxation.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund where you will explore the exhibits, and many of Dian Fossey's work about mountain gorilla conservation. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Transfer back to Kigali International Airport with a Kigali City Tour

Enjoy an early morning breakfast, then drive back to Kigali City. Depending on your flight time, you will have a city tour visiting the Genocide Memorial Center in Gisozi and the Rwanda National Museum. Later you will be dropped off in Kigali or at the airport for your flight back home. Don't forget to buy yourself a souvenir as remembrance for the memorable safari you have had in Rwanda.
