The best time to visit Kruger National Park is during the dry winter months, from May to September. At this time, the bush thins out and animals gather around and rivers. Conditions improve as winter progresses, and September is particularly lovely since the mornings are less chilly than in midwinter. The best time for wildlife viewing also coincides with the low season, making it even more attractive. Try to avoid South African school holidays and long weekends, as the park tends to become quite crowded, especially south of the Sabie River.
