The best thing is the self drive and options to do game drives with rangers from the various camps. One need at least a week to explore different camps and settings and the Park is vast from North to South. Good binoculars at least 12x50 is a must have for this trip. Feast of wildlife and birding. Accommodation range from camping to luxury houses. The Kruger is a TREASURE!

Here we saw all the big five except leopard. Our accommodation was in Mopane, up in the northern drier half of the park so the scenery wasn't the greatest, however these plenty of action with the wildlife. Like buffalo fighting on the road, elephants trumpeting and flapping ears at us, zebra stallions fighting and masses of birds. Also crocs and hyppos. While spotlighting at night we saw wild cats (not the big variety), hyenas and a very rare owl.

We visited Kruger for several days and saw a lot of animals and birds. We loved to stay as long as we liked at a hide or watch a herd of elephants and buffalo. Good tar and dirt roads.

Kruger offers excellent facilities and owing to the variety of the various biomes is a must see and do. Take the night game drives and organize a bush braai - somewhere in the bush with no fences and a great chef to prepare your food while you enjoy drinks next to the fire - great experience.

I will just explain why I only gave a "good" to bush vibe: too many people in the park who behave like idiots: fast driving, loud music, no respect for animals. It is still a great place and we particularly enjoyed a night at Sable hide which I would recommend to anyone who wants to know what bush experience means.

Huge variety of birds and animals, stunning scenery, fairly high level of hospitality.

OK, I was a tourist but in Krüger I felt like a tourist, a longer stay, which I could no way afford, far to pricey!! may have changed my view but I doubt it.

I would not say Kruger is particularly beautiful, it's very scrubby which makes the prolific wildlife often difficult to see. Perhaps the North is more scenic. Bush vibe hindered by tar raods and the self drive aspect, but this also makes the park very economical to visit. Saw some good birds, especially around Berg En Dal.
