I really loved this park. Its otherworldly desert landscape had a real wilderness feel. We found some great birds (Gray's Lark) and, on a night drive, neat smaller mammals (Bat-eared Fox, Cape Fox, African Wild Cat). And it seemed like there was NO ONE else around for 50,000 sq.k.

Stunning and beautiful, limited for wildlife, you may see an Oryx, an Ostrich or some antelope, but very luck to see anything else. The incredible landscape makes up for the lack of wildlife.

Sand dunes were beautiful, but I come to Africa mainly for wild-life.

The desert area was magnificent with ostrich, oryx, jackal, baboons and lots of smaller creatures which you wouldn't normally see - snakes, gecko, skink, chameleons, flamingos and pelicans.

You don't need a guided tour in this area and it is malaria free

The way to see Sossusvlei (a stunning clay pan in the central Namib Desert) is to go in on foot with an experienced guide who will show you all the signs of life in the seemingly empty expanse of sand and cracked, rock-hard former waterholes. Lizards, birds, spiders, and even the occasional antelope family walk here too. The scenery in incredible, like nothing else on earth. Wear a wide-brimmed hat and take a BIG bottle of water.
