Selous is awesome. You can drive off the road. During a safari day you bump into all vehicles in Selous. That is about 10 4x4's. Make sure you have an awesome driver / guide / tracker. We had the best, tracking down leopard trails as he drove. Few vast plains, more shrub and dense (and dry) vegetation and some lakes. Wildlife is not so much habituated to humans as in other parks. Selous makes Ngorongoro your local European drive through safari zoo. You really track down animals for a true bush vibe and wildlife experience. Unique wildlife as well: wild dogs. Lucky enough to see a rare event in Selous: a leopard with young walking around closeby. Less wildlife density you will observer, but compensated by the awesome experience and unique events.

The Selous Park is beautiful. And so many of our dibrtch memories from Tanzania. Afebxha was waiting for us by changing the number of employees in the contract. It was only after our intervention that she confessed to guilty and we received a compensation. The guide himself gave me that this job did not suit him and we were so tired with each other these few days.

Safari in Selous Game Reserve was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It's hard to find the words to describe the feeling of being close to a lion or watch a hundred zebras and impalas crossing your path. The guide (unfortunately I forgot his name) was simply amazing and very knowledgeable. I was surprised how much animals have we spotted in just three days of safari as Selous is one of the largest remaining wilderness areas in Africa! Highly recommended to every nature and wildlife lover!

Completely different to the northern parks of Tanzania

Selous isnt a National Park like the famous Serengeti with all the almost tame animals, therefore its kind of boring or even un-expected in the beginning when you see shy Zebras or Giraffes running away from Safari visitiors even when they are fare away (like 100m and more). But then, you'll end up with a more natural feeling - it's interesting to see big groups of Giraffes running scared ... but the thing I liked at most was that in the Selous you can stop the car, get out, have a walk, picnic or whatever. The drivers go whereever the car is able to go through the bush - and that makes the experience, because you're much closer to animals like Elephants or even the Wild Dogs. In general its not really touristy, so everything feels more like an expected bush adventure. Ah, and for me the flight in small plane was an "adventure" as well. So i'll recommend the Selous (afterwards) in combination with e.g. the Serengeti.

It were not the big five but maybe in the other national parks. We were in the wrong national park to see them.
This were the first safari and visit in Tansania .It was a great visit in this national park and we saw many another animals.
Our expectations were perhaps too high because we didn't get proper information before the tour.
The animals do what they want and not what we want.

Great place. Harder to spot some animals because of the jungle and bushes in the area but such a cool place to have visited.

We didn’t see any lions. We had 3 days of rain before we arrived. We were told that the lions lay low during raining spells. Otherwise we would have given 5 stars.

This game reserve is very original thanks to the mighty river Rufiji. You also can see some coastal birds. The lodge was excellent and boat trip memorable. Don't miss the tour in the forest with a real bushman : amazing!
