Great organization, professional and friendly from Edwin @ Hyrax Safari
We booked our safari with Hyrax Safaris, and we're really glad we did.
Edwin in the office handled all the planning and coordination for us. He was very helpful and incredibly responsive. Whenever we had a question, he got back to us right away. He stayed on top of every booking, reservation and concern we had, so we never had to worry about anything.
Ben, our driver and guide, made the safari. He knows the area really well and did everything he could to find as many animals as possible during our game drives.
The highlight was when we went looking for lions. Ben found a male and a female in a spot you couldn't even see from the road. We still have no idea how he knew they were there! We ended up watching them mating, something we never expected to see and will never forget.
He also knows a lot about the animals themselves, their habits and the small details you'd never notice on your own. He was easy to talk to and happy to answer all our questions!
Thank you, Edwin and Ben, for a great experience. We'd book with Hyrax Safaris again without hesitation.

Mount Kenya was amazing and we had a great team to help us. They were always super attentive, kind and helpful. I was affected by altitude sickness early on and we were ready to descend on the second day but the guide suggested we change the itenarary and spend a day acclimatizing so we didn't lose the experience. The team kept looking after me really well and we were able to continue. There was so much food and water they continually prepared for us. They work really hard and really made our experience what it was
An excellent safari with a fantastic guide.
We had an excellent safari with Hyrax. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and we're already talking about doing another safari in the future.
Our driver and guide, Ben, was excellent. He was a very safe and considerate driver, knowledgeable about the wildlife and the area, and generally very easy to get along with. We saw a huge amount of wildlife and had a fantastic time in the Maasai Mara.
I was also impressed with how Hyrax responded when we had an issue with our original vehicle. It was a small four-seater Land Cruiser and wasn't really suitable for game drives, particularly for someone tall. It was difficult to stand up properly and get a good view through the roof. We asked if it could be changed, and Hyrax arranged a replacement as soon as they could. The replacement was much better. Problems happen, and I think responding quickly and fixing them is what matters.
The reason I'm giving four stars rather than five is mainly the organisation before the safari. The paperwork and payment process sometimes felt a bit sloppy. Most concerning was being given an incorrect routing number for the bank transfer. That's not something you want to find out when you're about to transfer around US$6,000. Their bank also deducted an additional US$30 fee, which Hyrax asked me to cover rather than absorbing themselves. It wasn't a large amount compared with the cost of the trip, but it added to the frustration with the payment process.
Overall, though, the most important thing is the safari itself, and that was excellent. We had a great experience, Ben was a fantastic guide, and Hyrax dealt quickly with the one problem we had during the trip. With a more organised booking and payment process, I would happily have given them five stars.

Awesome trekking to Mt. Kenya with Hyrax Safaris
Hyrax Safaris organized a trek on Mt. Kenya for us. From our very first inquiry, communication with Roselyn was incredibly fast and professional. We had no problems adjusting the itinerary to our needs.
We did a 4-day trek, starting at Sirimon Gate and finishing in Chogoria. Daniel was the leader of the support team — a very experienced guide who did an excellent job selecting the additional guides, chef, porters, and other members of the team.
Everything went perfectly during the trek as well. The food prepared by Patrick was delicious and varied, and the equipment provided (tents, sleeping bags, and mattresses) was of very good quality.
Thanks to such a great team, reaching an altitude of 3,985 meters above sea level was a real pleasure.
Thank you very much, and we highly recommend Hyrax Safaris to anyone visiting Kenya — not only for trekking, but also for safaris.

Smooth operation, very professional
Hyrax Safaris was able to accommodate for a short-term request for a 3-day (2 nights) safari trip from Nairobi to Maasai Mara (Fig Tree Camp). The pick-up was on time and smooth. The driver, Dan, went all out, to get us on time to the park even though there was blocked traffic on Mai Mahiu road.
Dan seems to have a sense for the big cats of the Mara and we had the pleasure to witness feasting lions, elegant cheetahs and a prowling leopard.
