Initial reasonable price comes at a cost - an uncomfortable experience
Pre-trip communication was top notch from Tracy.
As expected on any and all safaris in the Masai Mara / Serengeti - we saw everything we expected to (except Rhino) - but that's a given, that's why people travel from all over the globe to this place. So I'll not focus on what we saw but the rest of our experience.
The cost of the safari which included a one night stay in a camp site near the Masai Mara was about $1560 for 3 people.
I initially thought the price was reasonable, but the quality of the vehicle was really poor (super uncomfortable, poor leg room, leaked / poured water when raining in multiple places simultaneously) and the camp site was awful (food, bed comfort, service - all of it).
Whilst the driver / guide was friendly and somewhat knowledgeable, we did have to hold him to account a few times. E.g. he told us to have breakfast in the campsite at 0530 ready to leave at 0630 (service is very slow so you do need to leave an hour for a greasy omelette). Half asleep we were there at 0530 and ready to leave 0625, which is when he strolls in and sits down to order his breakfast. We had to tell him "We're ready to leave, we were up at 0430 packing and here for breakfast an hour ago ordering and eating like you told us, but now you want us to wait an hour for you to order and eat? No, not happening sorry, let's go". This kind of attitude just sours the experience, although he took this well without complaint / attitude, it's just unnecessary. Be professional and remember this is a once in a life time experience for most.
Given how affordable both accommodation and vehicle hire is in Kenya (especially in low season when we went), I think $1500+ for a one night trip is too pricey. Had a more appropriate vehicle been provided, and had the accommodation felt less one star and more three star, I think it'd make a vast difference.
In a nutshell, I would not recommend this experience.

Professional, reliable, and excellent service from planning to the end of the safari.
We were very satisfied with our 10-day safari. From the very beginning we received excellent support. Venessa from the office always responded very quickly to our messages and guided us perfectly throughout the entire planning process.
Whenever we asked for adjustments to the itinerary, she immediately took care of them. She was also very quick to respond to any questions we had – truly excellent service.
During the safari, we saw an incredible number of animals – the Big Five and many more. It was an unforgettable wildlife experience.
Our guide Isaac was always professional, friendly, and reliable. He took great care of us until the very last day and even accompanied us to the train station at the end.
We can definitely recommend Gemfinders and would like to thank the team for this wonderful experience.

It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime trip that we’ll cherish forever, and would recommend to anyone!

A Safari I Will Never Forget
When planning our safari, we contacted multiple safari companies. We felt most comfortable with Gemsfinder. Tracy was so kind and organized our safari perfectly. We are truly thankful.
When we arrived in Kenya, we were picked up at the airport by our amazing guide, Laurence. He welcomed us with a very kind smile. On our way to the hotel, he shared interesting information about the city. The next day, he picked us up from the hotel and the real safari adventure started. He was punctual every day. Sometimes he had to wait for us, but we never had to wait for him.
Being on the road with him was so much fun. We talked a lot and had a very good time.
The first day in Masai Mara was like a dream. We saw so many animals, even a leopard hunting and a cheetah resting. We also saw two of the Big Five together, the lion and the elephant. Laurence was so motivated and excited. He truly wanted us to have the most amazing experience. He also shared many interesting facts about the animals and the park. He did this in all the parks. He was also very passionate about leopards and birds. In the end, I became just as excited about leopards.
He also took us to a Masai village. It was such an interesting and unforgettable experience.
After Masai Mara, we had a long drive to Lake Nakuru. The ride did not feel long at all because of the nice conversations. Lake Nakuru was amazing. We saw a black rhino chasing a hyena. In Lake Nakuru, I had two unforgettable moments. The first one was at the lake. The lake was beautifully surrounded by mountains and pink flamingos. The fresh air gently touched my skin and the smell of the salty water was so calming. A hyena, several buffalos and zebras were so close to us and made me feel like I was in paradise. The second amazing moment was when we crossed paths with a Rothschild giraffe on the road. First she was in front of us, and later behind us. When she was behind us, I could observe how the dust slowly made her disappear.
In Hell’s Gate, Laurence introduced us to Joseph, a very nice and joyful guide. We biked, hiked along the river and laughed a lot. It was also a very cool experience.
At Lake Naivasha, we saw and fed some pelicans. We also had the opportunity to walk on the island. We were very close to a giraffe and many zebras, impalas and wildebeest. Many of them had babies. In general, we were so blessed to see many baby animals. We saw baby elephants, impalas, zebras and one baby white rhino. In Lake Nakuru, we were introduced to the Rhino Master, Ramadan. Ramadan was able to communicate with rhinos. He called the rhinos out of the water and we were able to get very close to them. He fed them in front of us. It was unbelievable to see him interacting with the rhinos. At first I thought the name was a joke, but he really is a rhino master. We ended our beautiful and unforgettable safari with the rhinos. We also saw all of the Big Five during the safari, which was amazing.
Our first safari experience was even better than we expected. It was full of variety, new experiences and wonderful memories.
I would also like to mention the accommodations. Each accommodation was unique and had its own charm. The first two nights we slept in a tent, which had a bed and a restroom. The people there were so great and the food was served à la carte. I still remember stepping out of the tent and being so close to nature, feeling the cool fresh air. The other accommodations were also very nice, but less close to nature. I really enjoyed the combination of both.
I would like to finish with some kind words for Laurence and Tracy. I sincerely believe our safari experience was so wonderful because of you both. It was perfectly organized, thank you so much, Tracy. And thank you so much for your sincere, authentic, kind, calm and joyful nature, Laurence.

Incredible Safari of my Life with Gemfinders and top Guide Lawrence
Our Safari Journey started with a smooth planning with Tracy, she was easy to reach out and Kind enough to listen and respond to every information we needed for the Safari.
Upon arrival our top Guide Lawrence Picked us from the Airport to a Hotel in City Center, early morning Pickup to maasai mara. In the First day we already saw 4 of the big 5 and a Leopard hunt. Our Guide was Minimum as excited and motivated as us. He even agreed to skip Lunch and instead we never stopped our Game Drive Till late evening, which Made our Safari start even more unforgettable.
We couldnt have a better start and this continued to the end.
He also knew secret Tips and which Ranger to hire (e.g. masai Village, Hells Gate, Lake navaisha Hippo feeding experience) He teached us so much about the animals, the country and culture.
I highly recommend everyone to book with Gemfinders and ask for Lawrence as a Guide - even though He saya His coworkers are great Guys too.
