UNLIKE ANY OTHER TOUR
If you’re considering a trip to Uganda, stop searching. Amatsiko Tours is in a class entirely of its own.
From the moment we arrived, everything was handled with a level of care and professionalism that made the entire experience effortless. Airport pickup, beautiful accommodations, seamless transportation, and delicious meals. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged. We were driven in a spotless, comfortable vehicle and never once had to worry about logistics. We could simply be present and absorb the experience.
But what truly sets Amatsiko apart is Alex and Alphonse.
They don’t just guide you. They invite you into the heart of Uganda. Their English is flawless, their knowledge is deep, and their pride in their country is evident in everything they share. Through them, we didn’t feel like tourists. We felt welcomed into a community that few get to experience.
We visited a school serving some of the most vulnerable children in the region. It was an experience that was deeply moving and impossible to forget. We traveled into a remote mountain village where Amatsiko is actively changing lives by helping families install water tanks and filtration systems so they no longer have to make exhausting daily treks for water, and supporting sustainable rabbit breeding programs to provide much-needed protein. These weren’t staged visits. They were real, human, and profoundly impactful.
At the same time, they showcased the breathtaking beauty of Uganda—the sweeping mountain landscapes, the warmth and joy of the people, and the richness of everyday life in a way that felt authentic and respectful.
And then, the pinnacle: the gorilla trek. A true once-in-a-lifetime experience, perfectly coordinated and executed without a single hitch.
What stays with us most, though, is Alex and Alphonse themselves. Their integrity, kindness, and passion elevate this from a “great trip” to something transformational. Meeting them, hearing their stories, and seeing the difference they are making in their communities is something that will stay with us forever.
This is not just a tour. It’s an experience that changes you.
If you have the opportunity to travel with Amatsiko, take it. You will leave with a deeper understanding of Uganda, a profound appreciation for its people, and a strong desire to return.
Wow, where to begin!!
Wow where to begin with this experience! First, let's say we were easily the most difficult clients they must have had, throwing them curve balls left and right. From missed flights, to missing baggage, to itinerary changes, plus the added challenge of us working on a film project while with them, Alex and Alfonse made us feel calm and easy in what otherwise would have been a very stressful situation. Even my phone broke while on the trip, and these guys kept me from having a panic attack while they got my phone repaired. But let's talk about the tours- with these guys, you're going to get the REAL REAL of Uganda. If you'd like to be surrounded by other tourists, this is not the company for you. Off the beaten path, we saw Uganda like no others do, yet we were happy and comfortable the whole time. Incredible experiences like gorilla tracking were even better because they gave us the best advice on how to prepare. Furthermore, the profit they make on the tours goes straight to educating rural children in Uganda at the school they founded, which we saw in person and enjoyed interacting with the kids. If you want a unique experience with the added benefit of supporting a cause, this is the company to use when you go to Uganda. In the end we were sad to say goodbye to Alex and Alphonse, our new but close friends, and we will be back to see them again!
An experience of a lifetime!
Amatsiko provided us with an experience that I will not soon forget. Their attention to detail and their sense of timing and professionally made our trip so much easier and so much more enjoyable. On top of that they’re good natured attitude only enabled us to have an even better time. I have dealt with tour groups and tour companies before, but I will say that none exceeded the experience I just had with this tour company. If you’re looking to have the same experience, I implore you to take advantage of their services! Thank you Amatsiko for making our trip safe, enjoyable, and exciting!

Meaningful Private Safari with Wildlife, Culture, and Community Impact
I joined an 8-day private safari from Uganda to Rwanda as a solo traveler, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. Having a dedicated guide throughout the trip made everything smooth and stress-free. His English was clear and easy to understand, and his explanations about wildlife, nature, and local culture were always thoughtful and informative.
The itinerary was very well balanced. I enjoyed game drives, a walking safari in Lake Mburo, chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge, and a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, all of which offered different perspectives on Uganda’s wildlife. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi was the highlight of the trip — seeing mountain gorillas up close in their natural habitat was truly unforgettable.
What made this tour special was that it went beyond wildlife. Cultural experiences with the Batwa people and visits to local communities around Lake Bunyonyi gave me a deeper understanding of how people live in harmony with nature. These moments felt genuine and respectful, not staged.
The lodges and hotels were comfortable, food was consistently good, and long driving days were broken up with scenic stops and local market visits, which made the journey enjoyable.
The tour is operated by **Amatsiko Tours**, an NGO that runs a school for children from disadvantaged communities. Knowing that the tour proceeds support education and community projects made the experience even more meaningful.
I would highly recommend this tour to travelers who are looking for more than just wildlife sightings, and who value responsible tourism and cultural connection.
Best tour company in Uganda, would choose them again without hesitation!!
We had an amazing experience with Amatsiko Tours and would choose them over any other tour company without question. We were three American travelers on a custom tour, and Alex and Alphonso personally traveled with us the entire time. They have a beautiful mission and knowing that all of their profits support their school in Kibale makes the experience feel even more meaningful. They personally came to pick us up in Bwindi, spent two days touring around Queen Elizabeth National Park and then took us to Entebbe. Please reach out to them if you want a personalized tour even!!
Throughout the trip, they were professional, calm, and very communicative. We ran into a few unavoidable hiccups like road closures, but they explained everything clearly and always let us decide how we wanted to move forward. We never felt rushed or pressured at ANY point.
Their 4x4 safari vehicle with an open roof is absolutely perfect for safari and honestly the best safari car you could imagine. Thanks to their knowledge and timing, we saw lions, a leopard, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, antelope, and topi all in one day at Queen Elizabeth National Park, which felt unreal. They also arranged smooth transport all the way to Entebbe and directly to the airport, making the entire experience easy from start to finish. Their pricing is very fair for the level of care and quality you receive, and it feels good knowing that their tours support the school they founded.
This is a genuine review and we were not asked to write it. We hope to travel with them again someday and would love to visit their school as well, their mission is truly so beautiful!!!
