I was not happy with my experience.
I was not happy with my experience as it relates to MoAfrika Tours.
I recommend that you take look at what is and is not part of the experience carefully, an additional cost may be required to participate in all of the safari's drives being offered while there. In the tour I took, and addition cost and reservation was required for the last morning safari drive, which led to a unfortunate complication for me. Should you decide to buy this safari package, the decision to participate in the morning safari should be made prior to departure. The problem that I have is that there is an additional cost, and reservation needed at all for this drive.
4day Luxury Radisson Kruger Safari, has a stated cost of $882 to $970pp(USD), however you can see here that an additional cost is required for the last morning safari drive. "On your last morning, you have the choice to unwind at your hotel for the day or depart on an optional 3-hour morning safari adventure (additional R1250)."
Make sure you understand what you are buying. I would not recommend MoAfrika to anyone that I know, or encountered looking for a safari. Caution, and buyer beware.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent experience with MoAfrika Tours. We appreciate all input, as it helps us improve our communication and services.
We understand your disappointment regarding the optional sunrise safari on the last morning. However, it is clearly outlined in the itinerary (which was sent to you twice in advance) that this specific game drive is optional and requires both prior booking and payment of R1250 per person.
Unfortunately, as this activity was not pre-booked, we were unable to accommodate you at such short notice when our guide arrived at 5:00 AM. Had we known of your intention to join beforehand, we would have gladly made the necessary arrangements.
We strive to ensure all our guests are well-informed about what is included and what is optional in their packages. We regret any misunderstanding and encourage future travelers to carefully review their itineraries and communicate any additional requests ahead of time so we can provide the best possible experience.
Thank you again for your feedback. However, we cannot accept responsibility for the fact that you were unable to join the optional sunrise safari. Upon reviewing your communication with our travel consultant, it is clear that you were offered the opportunity to book the sunrise safari in advance, but you chose to decide later. Unfortunately, “deciding later” does not mean on the morning of pickup when the guide is there to fetch you . In South Africa it does not work like that .
You were clearly informed that the sunrise safari is optional and carries an additional fee of R1250 per person. We offer this drive as an optional activity because many guests prefer to relax at the hotel, enjoy its facilities, and sleep in on the final morning, as early 4:30 AM wake-up calls can be tiring by day four of the safari. While we always strive to accommodate our guests, prior booking is essential to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Warm regards,
Anthony

Very unprofessional
On July 15, 2025, our family had a terrible experience in Johannesburg while on a tour with Mo Afrika Tours. We were attacked and robbed at gunpoint by four men right in front of the main entrance of the Radisson Blue Johannesburg hotel. My wife and I were both physically assaulted and injured, and all of our belongings were stolen.
We believe the driver arranged by Mo Afrika Tours acted unprofessionally and without our safety as a priority. This, in our opinion, is what left us vulnerable to the attack. Because of this, we believe Mo Afrika Tours should be held responsible for what happened.

We are deeply heartbroken and truly devastated to hear about the traumatic experience you and your family endured upon your arrival in Sandton. Being robbed at gunpoint is an unimaginable ordeal, and we extend our most sincere apologies for the fear and distress this must have caused you. Please know that the entire team at Moafrika Tours shares in your sorrow and wishes nothing but healing and peace for you all moving forward.
In our 20 years of operation, having safely welcomed over 50,000 guests on tours across South Africa, we have encountered only two such rare incidents. We strongly believe this was the work of a criminal syndicate that likely followed you from the airport—a unfortunate tactic employed by organized groups in the area. In no way was our driver, Nash, or Moafrika Tours negligent in this situation. Nash is a highly professional member of our operations team, holding a valid professional public driving license, and he conducts transfers with the utmost care and expertise as part of his role. He was also held up during the incident and did everything possible under the circumstances to ensure everyone’s safety.
The robbery occurred outside the hotel by four armed gunmen who targeted your family and our driver alike. Regrettably, South Africa does face challenges with armed criminal syndicates, though such events are not common. Our drivers are trained in professional driving standards to provide safe and reliable service, but they are not equipped for military-level confrontations. This could have happened to anyone arriving at that moment, regardless of the tour company involved—it’s a heartbreaking reality of opportunistic crime that no one can fully prevent when faced with armed assailants.
As soon as we learned of the incident, our priority was your well-being. We immediately dispatched two of our senior managers to support you and your family, assisting with reporting the crime to the police and expediting the process to obtain new passports the very next day. Understanding that this happened right at the start of your 10-day South African tour, we went above and beyond to ensure you could continue safely and comfortably. This included arranging an armed security guard to accompany you in the vehicle throughout your time in Cape Town, allowing you to focus on enjoying the beauty and experiences of the region without added worry.
We want to emphasize that in our extensive history, the only other similar incident involved guests being followed from the airport and pulled over by imposters posing as police—again, a targeted syndicate operation beyond anyone’s control. At Moafrika Tours, your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities, and we are profoundly sorry that this marred the beginning of your journey. While these events are infrequent in South Africa, they do occur, and we regret that you were affected.
We are here for you if there’s anything more we can do to support your recovery from this experience. Wishing you and your family strength, healing, and brighter days ahead.
With deepest sympathy and regards,
Team Moaftika Tours
Not all the people they arranged are well-trainned.
We visited South Africa with great expectations and engaged Mo Afrika Tours, a local company based in Johannesburg, with the hope of having a memorable and safe experience. Sadly, what happened on our arrival at the Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel in Sandton turned our trip into a nightmare.
At the entrance of the hotel, we were violently robbed at gunpoint by four men. My parents were physically assaulted — my dad sustained a nose injury, and my mum was hurt around my left eye. The trauma we endured is indescribable.
We believe that the driver arranged by Mo Afrika Tours was untrained and unfamiliar with their own procedures.
- He parked in a distant open-air lot instead of the car park directly across from the terminal, where other experienced drivers would park, causing us to walk a considerable distance with all our luggage.
- He struggled with basic vehicle functions, including how to open the trunk, delaying our departure further.
- He left us unattended in the car to pay for parking, which took longer than expected — all this in an area vulnerable to crime.
Only later did we discover that our assigned experienced driver was unavailable, and instead, an assistant operator of the company with no proper driver training had taken over. Shockingly, the tour company just denied their responsibility for their negligence regarding our safety, despite being aware of the local risks. Such negligence is inexcusable from a company claiming to provide secure travel services despite some post-incident support provided.
The hotel’s lack of visible security presence also raises serious concerns about guest safety. After the incident happened, we knew from the hotel’s security team that firearms are easily accessible in South Africa. This revelation only deepened our concern — if the hotel’s own security team is aware of the risk, why weren’t there more proactive measures in place to protect their guests, especially right at the front entrance where many arrive? The hotel staff had witnessed us frantically trying to get their attention, but no one took any action. I will never forget the four receptionists’ eyes that saw us asking for help but did nothing.
We do appreciate the post-incident support they provided. However, it is hard to overlook that, in the crucial moments of our arrival, the hotel’s lack of visible security and proactive measures left us vulnerable.
We’re sharing our experience not out of bitterness, but to warn other travellers. Your safety should never be compromised — and unfortunately, trusting these companies came at a great personal cost to us.
No security at the hotel entrance. No protection from the tour company that left us vulnerable in the car. Just fear and trauma.
If you’re planning to visit, please be cautious. A dream trip can turn into a nightmare when safety isn’t treated as a priority by those you trust.
