Good day trips but still areas of improvement can be made
4/5

I went for the following daytrips with MoAfrika Tours - Full day Ultimate Johannesburg Tour, Half day Lesedi Cultural tour with lunch, Full day Pretoria and Diamond Tour. My pickup to and from Johannesburg airport was facilitated by MoAfrika Tours too.

1) Pickup to and from Johannesburg airport was smooth. On the day of arrival, my driver (Meluse) was waiting for me at the airport when I landed. On the day of my departure, my driver (Gudani) picked me up from the hotel promptly.

2) The full day ultimate Johannesburg Tour was good. My guide was Meluse. We started at constitutional hill and drove past several sights in downtown Johannesburg such as Carlton Centre, Mandela Bridge and others. Visited Apartheid Museum and had lunch there. Was joined by an Australia family for the next phase of the tour. Later went to Soweto and Hector Pieterson Museum and the Soweto Towers. Also stopped by the FNB stadium for photos. Learnt much about the history of South Africa and had a glimpse into how the poor in Johannesburg live. Overall good trip, although it was quite rushing at times.

3) Lesedi Cultural Village was a good tour too. Pick up arrived promptly and sent us to Lesedi Cultural Village. There, we had a guided tour about the 5 main tribes in South Africa, notably the Zulu, Xhosa, Pedi, Sotho ... tribes. There was a drum and dance performance, and interesting commentary about the way of life of the various tribes such as how many cows are needed for marriage etc... There were photo opportunities with the tribesmen and their living quarters (huts). Insightful tour. Lunch was provided. However, the itinerary indicated that lunch includes the opportunity to try out exotic food such as ostrich and crocodile meat. Instead, lunch was just normal buffet with the usual meat (Chicken, beef), and neither ostrich and crocodile meat was served. There were also some shops at the Lesedi Cultural Village selling souvenirs. The shopkeeper's queue management was poor and it was free for all and very chaotic...

4) Pretoria and Diamond Mine tour was okay too. My guide was Gudani. However, it should be noted that my pickup from the hotel arrived one hour late. And when I arrived at the Paul Kruger House in Pretoria, it was closed for the day already. The Cullinan Diamond mine was very interesting and I was guided by a 70+ year old semi-retired lady whose family worked in the mines. She told me she was born in Congo and later moved to Zimbabwe, then to South Africa. She told me several interesting stories about the diamonds and the mine operations. An eye-opening experience indeed, my first time visiting an actual mine. Cullinan seems like a peaceful (and safe?), quaint little town.

For Pretoria, we first covered the Voortrekker Monument, (then visited Cullinan) , drove past Church Square, stopped at Union Buildings and also visited the Singapore embassy and also drove past several other attractions such as bus stop named after Nelson Mandela. Unfortunately, when we visited Paul Kruger House, it was closed. Voortrekker Monument had a nice view of the city and nice art exhibition. It was interesting to know about the history of the Voortrekker migrants and their wars with the native people, as well as their lifestyle. Only drove past Church Square as the guide said it was unsafe to stop. Union Buildings was interesting too and had a good view of the city and beautiful gardens with a huge Nelson Mandela statue. There was a peaceful protest by a man claiming to be from the Khoisan tribe, very interesting to hear and listen to his grievances.

Overall, my guide Gudani is good - 24 years old young but promising guy who keeps me entertained with his snippets about himself and his country during the long drive to Pretoria and Cullinan. I stayed awake and alert throughout the trip entertained and intrigued by his stories. Initially, his photography skills were lacking but he learns fast how to take better photos. Hopefully, he will be able to improve with more experience. :)

5) Overall, my experience with MoAfrika Tours has been pleasant, although there were still some areas that needed improvement. Areas of improvement include timeliness and scheduling, good to equip guides with better photography skills and some items not fulfilled such as Paul Kruger House and no ostrich/crocodile meals served. Praiseworthy points include the reasonable cost of trips, comprehensiveness of tours, knowledgeable and promising guides I met, interesting history, culture, attractions and places in South Africa visited.

4/5

We were a group of three and booked an overnight safari at short notice. MoAfrica was recommended to us by airline crews. Booking, transport and lodge were very well organized. Only the payment was a bit complicated and only possible via payfast. This payment method was new to me! Already upon arrival in Pilanesberg we could see many elephants, rhinos, giraffes, zebras and even cheetahs. The Ivory Tree Lodge is very luxurious and we were well looked after. On the second day, the program had to be shortened due to strikes by the park employees. We all agreed - next time we'll stay a little longer! Thank you MoAfrica for the beautiful safari!

Well worth the cost.
4/5

I did the over night trip to Pilanesburg. The pick up and drop off went well, the hotel was beautiful, meals were amazing (lunch, dinner and breakfast), and the safaris were fun. What we didn’t see in animals (no lions, leopards, or buffalo, but saw many others) was made up in beautiful scenery. Each day we saw plenty of elephants and some playing in the water which was pretty interesting.
I would do it again and would bring my family too.
