Amazing !
Our safari with Meru Slope truly exceeded all expectations! From start to finish, everything was thoughtfully organized, and the team made sure we enjoyed every moment.
Our guide, Nuru, was amazing—super friendly, full of knowledge, and clearly loves what he does. We learned a ton about the animals and their behavior, and he really went the extra mile to make sure we saw as much wildlife and beautiful scenery as possible.
We also had Gideon as our cook, and he was great. The food was fresh and tasty, even while camping in the middle of nature. Such a treat!
We camped in public sites inside Ngorongoro and Serengeti, and it was awesome. The campsites felt safe, and waking up with nature all around us was unreal. We even saw lions and buffalos right from camp!
One of the things that really stood out was the incredible customer service. Everyone we met was kind, welcoming, and made sure we were comfy and taken care of. Seriously the best service we've ever had.
We also got to add some last-minute activities, and the team made it all happen without any stress. The night game drive in Lake Manyara was super exciting—we saw lions up close at night, which was unforgettable! And the hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti? Just wow. Watching the sunrise from above with animals everywhere below was pure magic.
We had such a fun time and made memories we’ll never forget. If you’re thinking about doing a safari, we 100% recommend Meru Slope. And if you can, ask for Nuru and Gideon—they made our trip absolutely perfect!

A genuine host who really does everything for your experience
We booked the combination of the 4 day Mt. Meru climb and Safari. In here I will only review the safari as the combined package is not an option to choose to review.
For our tour guide we had Nuru who is a true walking encyclopaedia. He knows soooo much about animals and the environment. He can also tell you a lot about the Masai tribe. During our game drives he really took the time to answer all our questions and tell us stories of the animals and surroundings. His favorite slogan is ‘Hakuna matata’ he’s a very relaxed guy and a real professional. Also a very sharp eye. He can spot an animal from kilometers far away.
The jeep safari cars have wifi on board and you can charge your devices to never be out of power to photograph the animals.
The game drives are good but quite long and the road is bumpy (car sickness) so please reconsider this also when booking the safari
It was a great experience but in my personal opinion I would recommend doing the Serengeti 2 days (especially the basic camp sites) en 1 day Ngorongoro as I find the time that you’re in the vehicle very long. And after seeing Serengeti and Ngorongoro I think Tarangire does not really bring that extra’s
When it came to the food. The cook Elija (Bonge) always prepared fresh food for us. The food was always good but sometimes we wished a little more variation. That’s also because the meals were roughly the same during the hike!
Finally, please don’t underestimate or forget about tips. Altough it’s not the biggest amount it can really count up after several days
Best Mount Meru tour with Meru slopes!
We did the 4 day Mount Meru climb and afterwards we did the 4 day safari but here i will only witte about the Mount Meru. We make another review about the safari. Our experience about the mountain climb is very good. The day of arrival we got a really professional briefing from our operator and the guide. They checked our stuff and told us everything about what to expect. We underestimated the trip a bit but luckily we had the best guide (Hussein!) and the best porters. Hussein gave us a lot of info. Ofcourse about the mountain, the nature and everything but also about the culture, the tribes, the daily life of the people in Tanzania. Because of the circumstances we decided in colaboration to do the hike in 3 days instead of 4. For us it was sometimes hard and we did not feel well all the time but because of Hussein and the other staff we could make it to the summit. We were very happy with the result and the team of Meru slopes really gave us the best experience! Without them we would not have made it. One last note; be aware of the amount of tips that you are supposed to give. Although we really liked the experience and we understand the tips is really important and welcome for the staff it’s quite an amount of money that you will pay when you already payed for the trip.

Amazing value for money
We had a really incredible 6 day tour with Meru Slopes. We were initially a little apprehensive as our tour was one of the cheapest tours available on Safari Bookings, but it turned out to be absolutely fantastic and worth every penny.
Our tour guide was super knowledgable and really great at getting us into perfect spots that other drivers would miss. He maximised our time game driving, typically setting out before the sun had risen. A hot meal for lunch at a park picnic site, then back on a game drive until 5pm or so. Our chef was excellent - cooking simple but hearty and delicious breakfasts, lunch, and dinner.
The Company went the extra mile for us - arranging transfers to the Airport; a last minute cultural experience at a Masai village; and a spare hotel room on our final day to shower before boarding our plane. All at no cost.
Accommodation was basic, but that’s what we paid for! The lodge we stayed in had a hot shower, AC, and a swimming pool. The campsites were very workable. Both had specific buildings for washing and eating. One site had hot showers, one didn’t. The tents were more than big enough for two of us.
All in, a great experience and I couldn’t recommend it more highly.
