Extremely helpfull and very nice people
We loved everything about our trip to Rwanda with Hermosa life tours. Our trip to Rwanda set out in order to get a once in a lifetime experience seeing the world famous mountain gorillas and with the help of Hermosa life tours we were able to do just this. From arranging the needed permits, helping us getting the right documents and vaccinations to enter the country or just helping with questions in general. One of the clearest examples I can give of their helpfulness was when my mother got foodpoisoning on the day of the hike to the mountain gorillas. Normally, this would mean bye permit(1500$) and bye chance to see the mountain gorillas unless you want to pay for the permit again. However, Hermosa went above and beyond driving us to various hospitals and clinics until we finally found a doctor that would sign for the fact that my mom was sick. Later, after some fighting with park officials and showing the sick note from the doctor Hermosa was able to send my mother up the next day to see these majestic creatures without us having to pay for anotherr permit. And this was just one example of the amazing service they had provided througout the few days that we stayed with them.

We booked through Hermosa Life to do gorilla trekking in Rwanda and they were easy to work with from start to finish.
We used them for 2 days to do gorilla trekking and to visit Dian Fossey's grave. Our guide and driver, Faustin, was excellent, with great information and knowledge of the local communities and history

Hermosa Life Tours Truly Lives Up to Its Name – More Than a Safari, a Life Changing Experience
Hermosa Life Tours live up to their name - they really do deliver a tour that is a once in a lifetime adventure! Over the course of 8 days we toured magnificent Rwanda, a place of beauty, humanity, inspiration, and future thinking. We started off with a guide, and finished with a friend. Abou was more like a travelling companion than an employee, and offered us his knowledge, heart, care, intellect, stories, philosophies, ears and eyes. We were so blessed to be accompanied by this amazing human. He steered us through Akagera National Park where we found lions and lionesses lazing under trees, rhinos closer than you might imagine, hippos galore, giraffes, zebra, buffalo, crocodiles, all manner of antelope, and birds aplenty. The King's Palace was a treat. In Nwungwe we ziplined, went for a canopy walk, found chimpanzees, vervet monkeys and mountain monkeys. We joined the traditional fisherman on the lake for an incredible experience netting sambaza. We travelled north visiting a tea plantation, joining the pickers and making a traditional brew, and replicated this experience with coffee and Arabica beans the next day, Abou ensured we were expertly looked after when we ventured into the Virunga Mountains, spending an hour with a Silverback gorilla, his wives and babies. My husband looked at me in the midst of this experience and asked, "Is this real?" The following day we trekked through potato fields to join the golden monkeys amongst the bamboos, and then joined the villagers where we were treated to our own personalised wedding re-enactment which was such a rich experience. Rwanda is now our favourite destination amongst many previously visited, and Abou our favourite companion. At every stage our comfort and experience was considered, the communication between Abou, Oreste and Yvonne was exceptional, as was Abou's communication with all the various guides that supported us. This was more than a holiday, more than a safari - it was an immersion with the Rwandan people, their country, their history, their way of life, their animals, and most importantly their future. This was a once in a life time experience, and we're so eternally grateful for it. Reliable, prompt, trustworthy company I would use again
Hermosa Life Tours was an excellent choice to help us schedule our mountain gorilla trek. We are based in the U.S., so the communication occurred entirely over email. They were responsive, prompt, and answered all of our questions. On the day of the actual trek, our tour guide Pacific quickly checked us in at Volcanoes National Park with no delays or issues with the permits. We just sat back and waited for the trek to begin! If I wanted to do another trip, I would absolutely use this company again.
Pacific was incredible and clearly loves his job. His vehicle was clean, had drinking water, and had snacks. He was always early, drove very safely, and most importantly was so fun to talk with! He was so knowledgeable about Rwanda and the gorilla trek experience. Pacific sent us activity recommendations in Kigali as well. He even went out of his way to buy us some banana beer after we expressed interest in trying it! Pacific was so flexible and understanding with us when we faced some payment issues and is a generous, honest man. We accidently sent him over $400 USD when trying to tip him online, and not only did he decline the payment, he followed up with us for weeks after to ensure we got it back from the bank. Not many people would return that money, especially after we had already left Rwanda. This is the quality of the tour guides Hermosa Life hires. I am confident my plans and money are safe with this company.
The only two suggestions I would have for Hermosa Life Tours:
- Provide more preparation materials for the gorilla trek. We had to do all of our own research about what to wear, what to pack, what to expect on the trek, what clothing is available to rent, etc. It would have been nice to have a short guide as a starting point.
-Factor tour guide lodging costs into the final package price as we learned tour guides have to cover their own lodging for multi-day excursions. We (and I'm sure many others) would be happy to pay a little more for the benefit of the guides.

One of the best tour companies I’ve used
i rarely use tour companies bc i prefer to make my own plans, but decided it was best to use a company to gorilla trek as i didn’t want to deal with permits and the logistics. after extensive research on all the available tours, i chose hermosa bc of their reviews, options and price. from the instant i reached out to them, they were very quick to respond and throughout the planning process, they answered my questions, helped me adjust my itinerary due to unforeseen changes and never once tried to pressure or upsell me. as for the tour itself, every bit of it ran smoothly and i felt taken care of the entire time. my driver, denny, was punctual, knowledgeable and always quick to offer help when i needed it. this is an exceptional company and i highly recommend them.

Wonderful private 10-day Rwanda tour with Hermosa!
My wife and I had a wonderful private, 10-day Rwanda tour with Hermosa Life Tours! Our tour included time in Kigali, and Akegera, Nyungwe and Volcanoes National Parks (with stops in between). Everything - from booking/communication with the online agents, right to the tour and interactions with our guide - was excellent. Highly professional, respectful and just as promised.
[Before I begin the review, a quick note on us for context: My wife and I are Canadian, and are both in our 30s. We're active/fit, and enjoy being immersed in new cultures and new experiences. We elected for a budeget-friendly / lower mid-range tour.]
We initially discovered Hermosa on the Safari Bookings website and sent them an inquiry about a 10-day tour. Shortly after, we received a reply from Tiamo at Hermosa who we worked with via email to tailor the trip EXACTLY to our interests and budget. Tiamo was very polite and prompt in assisting us, and at no point did we feel pressured into booking a more expensive tour.
After confirming and booking the tour, we were assigned a guide/driver, named Gordon. Gordon was FANTASTIC! A kind, respectful and highly knowledgeable guide. Once in Rwanda, Gordon met us at the airport and drove us between tour centres/activities, including during our game drive in Akegera. He always had an answer to our questions about the history, culture and nature of Rwanda. He was punctual, helpful and respectful of our wishes (e.g., if we wanted to make minor on-the-fly changes to our tour, or if we wanted to spend extra time in some places). He also had very good recommendations for restaurants and side-activies. We felt very safe and cared for with Gordon - both with respect to driving on the roads (note that traffic in Rwanda is hectic! But Gordon handles it like a true pro) and in terms of making sure we got the most out of the trip. Overall, Gordon is just a great guy - fun to chat with, a wealth of knowledge, and caring and respectful of his guests.
Lastly, it's worth noting that Hermosa's vehicles are great - well maintained, robust for the sections of off-roading that we encountered (in the National Parks), spacious and comfortable.
Now, on Rwanda - wow, what a beautiful and unique country! The geography and natural environment outside of the main cities is gorgeous - lush and interesting landscape. We were most drawn to Rwanda for a chance to experice the mountain Gorillas in the wild, and we were not disappointed! The Volcanoes National Park staff were excellent (organized, knowledgeable and highly respectful of the animals) and our trekking tour was truly magical.
[A side-note: if you're highly prone to car-induced motion sickness, a driving tour of Rwanda may not be for you, as there are many windy roads around the thousands of hills in the coutry. That said, Gordon was very happy to make a pit-stop if we ever needed one].
Overall, we would HIGHLY recommend a tour with Hermosa Life Tours; and especially in Rwanda. Thank you Gordon, Tiamo, the Hermosa team, and Safari Bookings.
