It Started in Africa - 5 Stars! Maasai Mara, Kenya
After weeks of research my best buddy I decided to book a private safari through It Started In Africa. Why? Pretty simple: Helder and the entire crew were very professional, responsive and informative. The transaction was very smooth, once we got to Nairobi, Kenya, the hotel pick up was on time, and the logistics and our itinerary was crystal clear and very well set up. The camp we stayed at (for 3 days) was very clean, safe and they delighted us with the most delicious food. The Maasai Mara itself it's one of those things that every person should experience at least once in their lifetime. This is the first time I write a review online ever, but my experience with It Started in Africa demanded it. If you are reading this and you are unsure whether to book a safari through It Started in Africa, I assure you; you will not regret it at all and you will have an amazing experience just like we did. meticulous andprpfessional planning of the trip , every details was taken care, the trip was executed with great precision, with guides and staff wich took care of us throughout the entire trip. the manager were available for any request and wish, fulfiled these requests and beyond. i strongly recommend using their services.

A company that puts you in first place
The whole experience with this company was always defined by how they made us feel special. Since the first email conversation with Paula, to the first phone call with Joao, to the first personal contact with Mr. Baraja and Sylvia, it looked like everyone was focused on making our journey feel special and exclusive. In 30 years of travel I never witness such dedication to customer care. The safari itself was a wonderful and magical experience. Great guide, great adventure, lots of wildlife. Everything was beyong my wildest expectations.

Amazing trip!
I found the agency online and they got back to me in only few hours with all the information. Very profesional since the begining.
The trip was nicely organized, our driver was amazing, great route and loges - the only loge that was okish was in Arusha, but after telling the agency, they found a better one for us.
Highly recomended!

Great safari package from Italy to Tanzania
It Started in africa customized us a tour which included the international flights from Rome. Everything was organized perfectly, all transfers were smooth and the safari was fantastic. Great people and excellent guide in a fantastic country

I loved everything
We finished our safari trip last tuesday. The trip was fantastic and the staff made it even more amazing. Philip, our exclelent driver and guide was informative, cheerful and very courteous with us. The cook was amazing the food was fantastic and both of them did an extra effort to make sure we hade a fantastic time.
Overall, everything was brilliant with prety much no complains to make.

Great Maasai Mara & Nakuru experience... from a South African that knows the Kruger Park well.
I have to start by saying that "It Started in Africa" handled our booking well from the start - good communication and even went the extra mile when payment from my side was a problem.
They arrived (which was critical) and even on time for our departure... had a great guide Joshua - which I now deem to be a friend. Saw the big 6 (including Cheetah) in our full day in Mara.. as well as great views in Nakuru National Park.
In hind sight - I may have cut out the day to Naivasha & Nakuru and spend an extra day in the Mara - but then you see less of Kenya.. tough decision? Maybe we did well to stick to the recommended plan - with limited time - we saw a lot.
The roads are horrible - but we learnt to even appreciate that - in Kenya a Safari means that you have to endure bad roads ... so in that sense we had a great Safari. For me, I wanted to see animals & landscape (typical Savannah) - and I got more than I bargained for! Saw thousands of Wildebeest, Zebra etc - big 6 in 1 1/2 days - 22 Lions etc etc.
This is one tick on my "bucket list" done .. the only question is when can I come again....

Massai Mara (fantastic game drive) - Zanzibar (the best vacations in my life)
At first i loved the trip, well worth it flight times!
About the tour operator "I Started in Africa" liked the monitoring of Helder throughout the logistics of reservations (flights, stays, visas, vaccines, etc.). Excellent!
About the trip was a dream, it was little short, but very rewarding.
Africa has civilization and a lot but a lot of poverty. I felt a lump in my throat several times ....
On safari, the best treatment possible, camp at LOYK MARA (nor should call camp for luxury;)), good food, good reception, loved the Masai tribe.
The guide of the best, always ready to help and clarify, good traveling companion!
Animals ... veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ..... the big five .... we saw almost all (except the rhino that is very hard to find) was a unique experience ... probably the only of its kind that I will have in life .. . the nature reserve of Masai Mara is huge with Kms out of sight, out of words to describe such a vast expanse of land and wildlife.
If something changed, yes, changed the hours of shipping out the nature reserve Masai Mara to Zanzibar ... it was a long day, really tiring. However, after waking up in Zanzibar the next day everything changes, that beach, sand, people, sea, sun, hotel ... a paradise ... I changed also stay in Nairobi .. in Confort Suites .... it was not the best ... the opposite.
Overall returning there for sure ... one day maybe ... by the same agency of course;)

Great 9-day safari to Tsavo, Amboseli, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara
All was very well organized by It Started in Africa and we found it good value for money. The correspondence with the office is very smooth, prompt and clear and they lived up to their promises.
We liked the proposed combination of Tsavo - Amboseli - Nakuru - Mara. It's a nice variation of scenery. Mara was a highlight of course for the great variety of wildlife, but the more quiet parks in the east have their charm as well.
We opted for the most basic accommodation offers and we found them all very neat. Especially in Rhinovalley lodge in Tsavo is located beautifully and quite luxureous. The tent camps Punda Milla in Nakura and Wajee Mara were more basic, but we found them fine and all had very friendly staff.
Our driver/guide, Evans, was excellent, a pleasant travel companion, a great driver and very knowledgable on the safaris and everything else Kenya. He really tried to make the most out of all game drives.
In short, we would definitely recommend It Started in Africa to anyone wanting to do a similar journey.
