The great migration at Masai Mara
5/5

We did a custom tour starting with 2 nights in amboseli, the third day was a long drive to masai mara with a stop in naivasha in between and then 3 nights in masai mara with 2 full day of game drives inside the mara.
Our first accommodation at amboseli sopa lodge was great, it is a big resort and has animals like antelopes monkeys inside. It was a great vintage stay. Donot miss the hemingways when you visit there. The game drives in amboseli itself was amazing. We saw an elephant going crazy giving an adrenaline rush. Then the elephants with the kilimanjaro in the backdrop, wow. We checked out bisited naviasha, a boat safari and a bush walk was a different experience and then came the mara. Masai mara is something which we never forget. We got upgraded from zebra plains mara camp to the luxury royal zebra safari lodge which was majestic. Every morning we will wake up and see the balloons flying and even saw a family of giraffe walking past infront of us. Then 2 full days of game drives in masai mara was far more than surreal. I counted and we say 24 animals, missed the rhino which is ok but we saw everything. Our guide George was so amazing, always focused on work trying to find animals for us and getting us the best spots. He would find animals and only we will be there or a few jeeps and we went during season time. Watchings lions up close, lions mating, the great migration with so many wildebeests and zebras, crossing the road felt awesome.

Special mention to Diana as well who helped us answering all our questions and arranging this special trip for us. Meektrails will always be recommended for your kenya safari.

A Truly Hassle-Free and Memorable Safari
5/5

We had an amazing 5 day experience with Meektrails during our Kenya trip covering Amboseli, Naivasha, and Maasai Mara.

One thing we really appreciated was the transparency. When they said “nothing extra,” they truly meant it—there were no hidden charges. Water supply was also more than sufficient throughout the trip, so we never faced any issues.

I’m vegetarian and don’t eat meat, and the food arranged by the hotels was exceptional. I had absolutely no issues with food throughout the trip.

A special mention to our driver, George. By the end of the trip, he felt more like a friend than just a driver. He was extremely patient, fun to talk to, and worked very hard to make sure we spotted everything we wanted to see. What we especially appreciated was that he didn’t just take us to the usual crowded spots. He knew how to find quieter places and gave us experiences where we could actually enjoy the surroundings and wildlife without being surrounded by too many vehicles. His knowledge about wildlife and the parks is incredible—he is like a walking, talking National Geographic! We could ask him anything, and he always had an answer and made sure we understood what we were seeing.

Lastly, a big thank you to Diana, who helped us with the booking. We changed our itinerary several times, and she was always patient and responsive, providing updated itineraries and quotations each time. She was also very flexible with the booking and cancellation terms. Since we were booking virtually from India and sending money without having met anyone, we initially felt a little nervous, but Diana’s flexibility and transparency made us feel completely comfortable.

Best for and highly recommended for first time travellers who need hassle free experience, transparency and flexibility in bookkng.

it was a memorable, comfortable, and hassle-free experience. We truly enjoyed the atmosphere, the wildlife, and the overall pace of the trip. Highly recommended!

Great Kenyan wildlife experience, but disappointing delivery from Meektrail
2/5

We recently completed a 10-day private safari organised by Meektrail, covering Amboseli, Lake Nakuru and the Maasai Mara. Kenya itself was wonderful, and we had some unforgettable wildlife experiences, but our experience with Meektrail was unfortunately mixed.

Planning and communication before the trip were initially good. Meektrail adapted the itinerary following our feedback, and we agreed on three nights in Amboseli, two at Lake Nakuru and four in the Maasai Mara, with a private driver-guide and mid-range lodges.

Problems began on arrival, when we were told during the drive from the airport that our three-night stay at Amboseli Sopa Lodge had been changed. The first night would be at a different, noticeably more basic lodge. This was not communicated beforehand, no proper explanation was given, and no alternative was offered.

Our original guide then spent on the next few days a very and unacceptable amount of time on personal phone calls, including during game drives. We eventually raised this with him. To his credit, he apologised and explained that he was dealing with a difficult family situation. He was subsequently replaced partway through the safari due to a family bereavement, which we fully understood.

The biggest disappointment was in the Maasai Mara. Our itinerary specified full-day game drives with picnic lunches, but on our first two full days we were returned to Zebra Plains Lodge at around 12.45 pm and told, “See you tomorrow.” We therefore lost two afternoons of game viewing and had to spend part of our holiday contacting Meektrail to resolve an issue that should never have occurred.

We also had to remind Meektrail about the sundowner and special “unforgettable meal” promised for our 25th wedding anniversary. The sundowner felt improvised, while the special meal was simply the normal lodge buffet, although Doris at the lodge kindly decorated our table.

Zebra Plains Lodge was the weakest accommodation of our trip. Despite being marketed as a boutique luxury lodge with Mara views, our room was enclosed by vegetation and had no view. We also experienced poor cleanliness, questionable towels, smoke entering the tent, repeated voltage drops, weak Wi-Fi and, on our final day, no usable water pressure for a shower and despite the largest of the lodges we stayed, had the worst food offering and variety and was rather repetitive

In contrast, Ziwa Lodge at Lake Nakuru was excellent, with stylish rooms, very good cleanliness and a genuinely welcoming family atmosphere.

Finally, we were told that our Meektrail representative would meet us at the airport before departure, but this did not happen. Four days after returning home, we had still received no follow-up, despite Meektrail knowing about our concerns.

Kenya was fantastic, but Meektrail’s internal communication, attention to detail and delivery against the agreed itinerary were disappointing. Taken together, the issues left us with a sense that the company had under-delivered on its promises. Based on our experience, we would not use Meektrail again.

Wonderful experience at a competitive price
5/5

My wife and I went on a six-days safari in late August with Meektrails Safaris.

First of all, the support we received during the planning stage (we were assisted by Diana) was excellent, with very quick email/Whatsapp responses.

The experience was fantastic; the combination of Amboseli, Nakuru, and Masai Mara National Parks, Naivasha and Nakuru lakes, allowed us to visit diverse environments.

We saw plenty of wildlife and fantastic views, especially in Masai Mara National Park.

The accommodations were very clean and comfortable, with excellent food.

We traveled in a minivan that was in good condition; for a more comfortable ride, you can opt for a Land Cruiser upgrade at an additional cost.

Our guide demonstrated great professionalism, he was excellent at explaining not only the wildlife but also the daily life in the towns and villages we passed through. He drove responsibly and kept to the schedule.

To sum up, a wonderful experience at a competitive price.......I highly recommend Meektrails Safaris.

Amazing
5/5

We went on a 13-day safari and everything was wonderful: the organization, the itineraries, the hotels, the comfort, and the meals. We had a minor disagreement about one of the transfers, but the company resolved it very quickly, efficiently, and promptly. We would return without hesitation. Special recognition to our guide Robin, who always made us feel safe and comfortable.

Perfect Safari agency

We had an amazing experience! Everything was perfectly organized, from the communication and service to the tour itself. The tour was enjoyable, reliable, and definitely worth the money. A special mention goes to our guide Robin, who was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. He did a fantastic job and made the experience even more special. We had a wonderful time and would absolutely recommend this tour to other travelers!

Absolutely spectacular safari experience
5/5

My group of 4 had an amazing experience with the Meektrails team. Esther was extremely helpful and supportive through the whole process from booking, to my questions leading up to the trip and logistics during the trip.

Ben was an amazing guide. He spotted the big 5 and other animals we would have never seen. Ben helped have so many special viewing experiences. He was very informative about the animals and Kenyan culture. Ben went at our pace but made sure all our needs were met.

We went to such a diverse set of parks and our accommodations hit the mark every time.

The food, service and amenities were all great value for the cost of the trip.

I 100% recommend booking with Meektrails and would again myself.

More than a safari – an unforgettable journey through Kenya
5/5

We had an unforgettable two-week trip through Kenya with Meektrails Safaris, and from the very beginning Esther made the whole experience feel personal and perfectly tailored to us.

She put together a wonderful itinerary combining the Maasai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Amboseli and the coast, as we wished. She listened carefully to what was important to us and found beautiful places to stay. Communication before and during the trip was always easy, warm and reliable.

And then there was Kim, our guide and driver, who became such an important part of our whole Kenya experience. His knowledge, his incredible eye for spotting animals, his patience and his calm way of doing things made every single game drive special. He showed us so much more than just the animals and always seemed to notice things long before we did. And somewhere along the way, his constant “pole pole” became one of the lasting memories of our trip. We could not have wished for a better guide.

What impressed us most was how well everything was taken care of even when things did not go according to plan. Our journey already started with a major flight delay and an unexpected night in Dubai, but Esther immediately adapted the arrangements in Kenya and stayed in contact with us throughout the trip. Later, when we experienced a very upsetting incident at one of the camps, Kim was there for us and helped us through a difficult situation. Knowing that we were not left alone when something went wrong meant a lot to us.

We also really appreciated all the small personal touches and the feeling that this was not simply a standard safari package. It became a journey we will remember for a very long time.

Thank you, Esther, for creating this journey for us, and thank you, Kim, for making our days on safari so unforgettable. We came home with countless memories, a serious case of Kenya longing – and already the idea that this probably wasn't our last trip with Meektrails. ❤️🇰🇪

Highly recommended!

Willing to agree to a refund on paper, but extremely slow to actually deliver on it.
1/5

We agreed on a full refund with Meektrails Safaris after cancelling our trip, but nearly three months later we still have not received it, despite repeated promises of "next week" or "soon." Please think carefully and consider this before booking.

Good safari experience, but unacceptable handling of the final day
2/5

I took some time before writing this review because I was hoping to receive a logical explanation and, above all, an apology from Meektrails for what happened on the final day of our safari.

We booked a private 12-day safari through Kenya and Tanzania, starting in Nairobi and ending in Arusha. Overall, most of the safari was a very good experience.

Our guide in Kenya, Ben, was excellent: professional, responsible, friendly, and always willing to do his best to give us the best possible wildlife experience. Our Tanzanian guide was also professional and made a genuine effort. The hotels were generally good, although I would not recommend the Elementaita hotel due to the enormous number of lake flies in the area.

Unfortunately, the final day was a completely different story.

The driver for our final transfer was the same guide who had been with us during the Tanzania portion of the safari. We had agreed that he would pick us up at 8:00 am. to take us to the airport for our 2:30 pm flight to Zanzibar. The drive from Ngorongoro to the airport takes approximately four hours.

At 8:00 am. , the guide did not show up. We waited until 8:45 am. without receiving any communication from him or Meektrails.

I then contacted Charles at Meektrails, explained the situation, and asked for the guide’s contact information so I could try to reach him directly. My attempts to contact the guide were unsuccessful.

Around 9:00 am. I asked Charles to urgently arrange alternative transportation so we would not miss our flight. We were in a remote area, so arranging transportation ourselves was not easy.

Finally, at 10:15 am. a taxi arrived. The driver did everything possible to get us to the airport, and after a three\-and\-a\-half\-hour journey, we managed to catch our flight to Zanzibar just in time. .

What was particularly concerning was the lack of communication. It was only after I contacted Meektrails that they became aware of the situation. I then had to send two additional messages before I was eventually told that the guide had supposedly experienced a medical emergency and had been hospitalized.

I can understand that an unexpected medical emergency can happen. What I find unacceptable is that there was no communication with us or any apparent contingency plan. Even if the guide was genuinely unable to contact anyone himself, the company should have had a system in place to realize that their guide had not arrived and immediately contact their clients.

What disappointed us even more was what happened afterwards: no apology, no follow\-up to check whether we had arrived safely, and no compensation for the stress and inconvenience.

We paid approximately USD 11,000 for a private safari for two people. At that price, we expected a much higher level of organization, communication, and customer service.

The final day was extremely uncomfortable. We had breakfast at 7:00 am. and did not have another meal until approximately 5:00 pm. when we finally arrived in Zanzibar.

I want to emphasize that the entire safari was not a bad experience. We had many excellent moments and our guides did a good job, particularly Ben in Kenya. However, the way Meektrails handled this incident and the complete lack of communication afterwards significantly affected our overall impression.

For these reasons, I cannot recommend Meektrails for the Tanzania portion of the safari.

Emergencies happen. What is within an agency’s control is having proper communication, monitoring scheduled transfers, having a contingency plan, and taking responsibility when something goes wrong.

In our case, none of this happened.

After spending USD 11,000, all we expected was something very simple: an explanation, an apology, and some gesture from the company to acknowledge the stress and inconvenience we experienced.

Unfortunately, we received none of them.
