Rachael's Flawless Planning；Masila's Extraordinary Heart.；The Safari of a Lifetime.
My wife and I just got back from the 8-day Kenya safari (May 2–9, 2026) with Splendid Vacations, and honestly, it was all made possible by two people: Rachael and our guide Alex Masila.
Rachael handled all the planning from the start. She replied to every message quickly, really listened to what we wanted, and put together an itinerary that just worked — Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, Amboseli. Every transfer, every lodge, every park fee, every meal, all of it went smoothly. It felt like she genuinely cared, and that made a huge difference even before we arrived.
Then there is Masila. He is simply the best guide we have ever had. He knows so much about the animals and the parks, and he has this amazing ability to find wildlife and get us right up close without ever feeling intrusive. We saw things we never thought we would see.
But what really touched us happened in the middle of the trip, when my wife got very sick late at night. I called Masila, and without any fuss, he arranged everything — took us to a doctor in the early hours, stayed with us the whole time, helped translate, and kept reassuring us until we knew she was okay. After that, he quietly adjusted the pace over the next couple of days so my wife could rest properly. He never made us feel like a burden. He just took care of us like we were his own family. We will be grateful forever.
On top of all that, Masila is just a joy to be around. He told us stories about growing up on a fruit farm, and how he dreams of going back to the orchards one day. You can see how much he loves nature — his face would light up every time we spotted an animal. He was patient, kind, funny, and completely genuine.
The trip itself was incredible. The Masai Mara gave us lions, cheetahs leopards, and endless plains full of wildebeest. Lake Nakuru was full of rhinos and flamingos. Lake Naivasha was peaceful — we did the boat ride and walked on Crescent Island surrounded by giraffes and zebras. And then Amboseli — watching big herds of elephants with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background, it almost doesn't feel real. The lodges were all comfortable and well chosen (Mara Serena, Lake Nakuru Sopa, Lake Naivasha Sopa, Kibo Camp), and the Land Cruiser handled every rough track perfectly.
Everything ran so smoothly, and that really comes down to Rachael's planning and Masila's deep knowledge of every place we visited.

Alex was fantastic - Super knowledgeable, patient, understanding and very flexible!
My wife & I booked a 7 day safari with our 3 boys through Rachel and it was awesome! Rachel was very easy to communicate with, very knowledgeable even made great suggestions for our trip and made us feel confident about our booking months & months in advance. Alex was our assigned safari driver and they could not have picked a better person to lead our family's vacation. The different animals & quantities of that he brought us to throughout the 4 parks we visited were astounding and his knowledge, personality and patience helped make our trip the best of the best! Professional and good value
Me and my girlfriend are very happy with the safari we had with Splendid Vacations. Our driver Masilla was especially very friendly and helped us with everything during the days on the safari. The car was in good condition and fairly comfortable. The accommodation was very nice and the food at the lodges were amazing. The safari we attended was filled with game drives, boat safari, bicycle safari and walking safari and everything was fantastic. We felt that the price we paid was fair for safari provided. There was a small hiccup before the safari with a hacking situation, but I felt we solved it in a fair manner. Overall I can definitely recommend Splendid Vacations for anyone wanting an amazing safari experience.

Good Communication and an amazing driver
We prepared the trip with Janet. Her offer catered perfectly to our needs, even including the hotel after our evening arrival at the airport. She included a cost breakdown, so we could see roughly how much the car, the hotel and the national parks cost.
The hotel rates were at least as good as on booking.com, if not better. Several hotel options were provided. We even received a free upgrade to a luxury lodge in the end, which was amazing.
During the trip, we had a great driver, Augustine. Even while driving, he spotted animals very well, and talked to the other drivers to make sure we get called when something special gets spotted. On top of that, he was great to be around, and explained some things about the wildlife and Kenya in general.
Thanks a lot Janet and Augustine, we would definitely choose you again!

Knowledgeable and amazing driving skills
I had an absolutely amazing experience on this safari tour, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide Willy and consultant Rachael. From start to finish, they were professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. They made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe while also keeping the experience exciting and fun.
Willy’s driving skills while searching for the animals were seriously impressive, and he knew all the best spots for photos and views. What I appreciated most was how he shared interesting facts about the different species, and local culture, which made the whole experience even more meaningful.
He was very attentive, always checking in to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves. It really felt like he went above and beyond to make the tour special.
I highly recommend this safari and especially Willy — they truly made the day unforgettable!

Funtastic!
I travelled as a family of 4 with 2 kids. The kids really enjoyed the safaris and the accommodations they provided. Our tour consultant Sammy was very communicative and helpful to fulfilled our needs. Our tour guide and driver Timothy was also an amazing person and helped us find the big 5. Kind and helpful people
My girlfriend and I had a very nice private trip organised by Splendid Vacations.
The booking process was generally smooth.
There had been an issue however with the first payment, which basically was nobodies fault, and a very fair solution was given by Splendid.
On our arrival in Nairobi it was easy to find our transportation to the airport hotel, which was of very high standard.
The next morning our safari really started and we were picked up by our guide/driver Masila, in a comfortable off road vehicle.
Masila has been a great guide, taking very good care of us, always smiling, very flexible and gave us all the time we needed.
When we suggested we would like to do a very early sunrise safari the next morning instead of what was originally planned, that was no problem at all.
One day, when going to the next place in the morning, he suggested to make a little detour in the park first, so we could maybe see a rhino (which we had not seen yet), and guess what.. we did see not one, but a total of three rhinos on our way!
Also all the accommodations we stayed at have met or exceeded expectations, both in locations and staff.
Our personal preference however, turned out to be the tented camps, as they had a nice relaxed and open atmosphere, yet very comfortable.
All in all we had an amazing trip and would definitely do it again!

Brenda can arrange the tour like what you want.
We asked for a natural place to stay that wasn’t overly polished but had delicious food, and the lodge they recommended was absolutely perfect for what we wanted. There are only ten cottages, so it felt very private. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the meals were full of vegetables from the organic farm on the property.
For the tour as well, once we shared our schedule and preferences, they arranged everything so it wouldn’t be too hectic. Our guide was also sincere and a wonderful person.
