Good
4/5

We had an amazing safari experience with Jocky Tours, and especially want to thank our guide Dennis! 🦁🐘🦒

We saw so many incredible animals during our safari, and Dennis made the experience even better. He was always on time, communicated clearly, spoke very good English, and knew the parks and roads very well. He was also very knowledgeable about the animals and made sure we had plenty of opportunities to see and photograph them.

Sometimes it took a little longer to get from A to B, but that is simply part of travelling around Kenya.

Overall, we had a fantastic safari and would definitely recommend Dennis as a guide.

Very kind and helpful
4/5

Overall, my 6-day safari in Kenya was an incredible, bucket-list experience. Seeing animals in their natural habitat was simply breathtaking, and I truly enjoyed the trip despite a couple of minor setbacks.

First and foremost, I want to give a special mention to the tour operator agent who handled my trip preparation. She was exceptionally kind, responsive, and supportive from day one. Every question I had before traveling was answered promptly, and she even checked in on me via message during the tour to ensure everything was going well. Excellent customer service!

The tour itself was super interesting, but there are two main areas where the agency could improve:

The Packed Box Lunches: While breakfasts and dinners at the camps and hotels were great, the packed lunch boxes provided for full-day game drives were very disappointing. Out of 4 days, we only received 2 repeating options. The main items lacked quality: the sandwiches were mostly bread with butter, a thin slice of tomato, cucumber, and a tiny piece of cold cut (or no meat at all in the second variation), paired with very dry chicken. While it came with juice, fruit, and yogurt, the main lunch portion was poor for long days out in the wild.

Vehicle Capacity & Comfort: For the first 3 days, we had 6 people in a 10-seater vehicle, which was very comfortable. However, for the last 3 days, the vehicle was packed to its full 10-person capacity. Driving for 6+ hours in August heat without air conditioning, stuck in a tight space where you cannot stretch your legs, made the long transfers very exhausting. I strongly recommend capping these long-haul vehicles at 6–7 passengers for customer comfort.

Note for future travelers: If I could tweak the itinerary, I would skip Amboseli and add an extra day in the Masai Mara instead, as the long drive to Amboseli didn't feel entirely worth it compared to the Mara.

At the end of the day, these were minor drawbacks that did not take away from an otherwise spectacular journey. I still recommend this experience and this company tour!

Very nice tour, lots of adventure
4/5

We had a good experience on our eight-day safari and spent the whole trip with our guide, Dennis. The tour was quite varied and we were able to see all the animals we had hoped to see. Dennis made a real effort to find the animals and was generally attentive and helpful throughout the trip.

The accommodations were as described and generally met our expectations. The food was mostly traditional African cuisine. There was some repetition, but overall the meals were good.

The distances between the different destinations were sometimes quite long, which is simply part of a safari like this. Dennis made sure we had enough breaks along the way, so we felt well taken care of during the longer journeys.

Overall, it was a good and enjoyable safari experience, with plenty of great wildlife sightings and a nice variety of destinations.

A good safari, excellent communication
4/5

Communication with the tour operator was excellent right from the start.
Overall, the tour was satisfactory; all the arrangements made were honoured and the transfers were on time.

There are lots of optional activities that aren’t included in the price of the safari and which you’re almost always forced to do so as not to be left with no alternatives (usually $20 each, and there are at least 3–4 of them).

Overall, all the guides, staff and drivers were honest and very friendly, so I’d recommend them.

I’d advise you to carefully consider which activities you want to do and how many days to spend on the safari in the most important parks: Maasai Mara and Amboseli.

We chose the 5-day tour, but we spent a whole afternoon with no scheduled activities or optional extras to do. For the last three days, we only did half-day activities.

The Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha parks are interesting, but you’ll only spend half a day there; it might be worth dedicating more time to the larger parks (Maasai Mara and Amboseli).

One final tip: there’s a big difference between budget and mid-range accommodation; consider your choice carefully.
