What a fabulous experience! Our tour guide, Spencer, was friendly and so knowledgeable. He knew so much about animal behavior that enabled him to not only tell us about an animal, but also its intentions. He worked with a network of other guides to go to hard to find animals like leopards and lions. We saw so many animals every day: zebras, giraffes, hippos, lions, leopards, impalas, elephants, wildebeests, all kinds of birds, and many more. We camped in three sites, two nights at each site. The crew set up our roomy tents that included a queen size bed, off the floor, two night stands, and an enclosed pit toilet and shower attached at the back. We had great meals: breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, mid-afternoon snack and dinner. We had eight in our party and were accompanied by a crew of seven. The crew could not have been more friendly, helpful and skilled. The trucks we rode in were perfect for animal viewing and sun protection.

Jackson became the face of our first African experience someone we’ll always remember when we talk about our trip. His dedication to making us feel comfortable was evident in every detail. He consistently went the extra mile to ensure we had the best possible experience.
Jackson was always punctual, ensuring we arrived early for all activities and avoided long queues. He stayed connected with fellow guides for real-time updates on animal sightings in the parks and worked closely with hotel staff to ensure our accommodations and meals were well taken care of. With a degree in tourism and hospitality, his knowledge of local culture, cuisine, wildlife, and birdlife was impressive. He shared insights without ever being intrusive, striking the perfect balance between informative and relaxed guiding.
We thoroughly enjoyed his company and would wholeheartedly recommend him as a guide for anyone visiting Uganda. We would definitely request him again for our next trip.
While the overall experience was exceptional, we did feel that the vehicle provided was quite old and lacked a functioning air conditioner, which was a bit of a letdown. However, aside from that, everything else was handled excellently, and we truly appreciate the effort Big Apes put into making our trip so memorable.

A wonderful experience with new friends
As a solo traveler the 5 travel companions quickly became friends where we all set up a WhatsApp where we could share pictures and stay in communication while on the trip and after we returned. Touchdown has set us up in wonderful animal reserves where we felt close and safe to the animals. We had a morning and evening animal drive with knowledge game rangers. Food was good. The evening sundowners were special. Happy Hour at sundown. Just don't have red wine as our was served at room temperature.

We then spent two incredible days in Maasai Mara, enjoying expert game drives and witnessing some of the most amazing wildlife in their natural habitat.
Our journey continued with one day each at Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru, and Ol Pejeta Conservancy — each offering unique experiences, from serene boat rides and bird watching to seeing the rare northern white rhinos.
