An excellent introduction to the great safaris in Kenya!
5/5

We are a family of 3 looking for a good experience being the first time in Africa, and we got a great one instead!

Stephen as the trip coordinator was patient, understanding and responsive to our numerous questions (vaccines, where to visit, what to wear etc). After discussions, we decided on a 6-night package (excluding Nairobi which was separate) being 2 nights each at Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Ol Pejeta Conservancy (2), all with the Wilder Group at Entim Camp, The Cliff, and the The River Camp, respectively. During the trip, Stephen greeted us on arrival and departure to the airport, went over the plans was available via mobile / WhatsApp when we needed help with the guide and the tented camps.

While the tented camps may have been relatively pricey, it was worth the while being a great compliment to the Safari experience, each being excellent in their unique (morning wake-up calls with tea and biscuits, rolling up curtain blinds) as well as their specific ways:
1. Entim's location at the Mara river was excellent and unfenced, giving you a sense of adventure while Chef Joseph culinary skills were the best of the trip. On departure day, witnessing 2 male hippos fighting for dominance within the common area was unforgettable.
2. The Cliff sunset / sunrise views above Lake Nakuru, expansive grounds with well-appointed and large rooms provided a premium experience, with regular greetings from hyraxes, baboons and eagles throughout the day.
3. The River Camp had the largest rooms, a private and serene location and Chef’s Gideon inventive cuisine (ask for the pina colada sorbet). Being next to the Ngobit river, it offered a great bonus with various animals visiting the watering hole on the opposite side (Giraffe, Elephant, Rhino, Bushbuck).

On to the tour, Tom exceeded expectations of being a great and knowledgeable guide that made the safari alive. Firstly, he was always early and in between safaris, he made sure there were appropriate stops for bio breaks, mealtimes and viewpoints / experiences (Rift Valley Escarpment, Masai village, Kenya/Tanzania balcony, Lion hill, Thomson Falls and the Equator line). He was clear in his communication on start / end times yet adaptable / accommodating to our needs being a private safari.

During the Safari, Kenya’s plentiful wildlife was the reason to be here. Additionally, Tom made the drives relaxed and was eagled-eyed in spotting the wildlife that were hidden, from afar, and even behind!
1. At Masai, while it wasn’t crossing season, we spotted the Big 4 easily (Rhinos were not present) including Lions (twice, once with a kill), Cheetah (thrice, once with a kill) and Leopards (once, 2 of them hidden on the trees with a kill). Each safari route was different ensuing we have a variety of viewings such as the riverbanks with large Nile crocodiles, large hippos and baboons atop the riverbanks.
2. At Nakuru, Tom gave us an account of the flooding that resulted a change of environment. We spotted Rhinos from afar, a pride of lion and lioness walking across our paths and a host of birds and land animals.
3 At Naivasha, the boat and walking Safari was an extra charge which was equally excellent, allowing to be even closer to the wildlife. Although Tom wasn’t the guide, he ensured we had ample time for the visit, and we never got hungry.
4. At Ol Pejeta, Tom continued with his excellent drive and spotting, being close as possible while keeping us safe, such as when a male elephant decided we were too close, and Tom’s quick thinking ensured we were easily out of harm’s way. We enjoyed spending time with Baraka and took 2 additional tours at an extra charge for memorable visits to the Northern White Rhinos and feeding time with the Chimpanzees.

Nothing is perfect and likewise with the tour. The Masai village tour was educational but could have done away with the hard sell, the Wilder Group properties seemed geared towards “wilder” and couples providing less privacy in showers/toilets, climate change resulting in reduced flamingo sightings (just 2 were spotted). However, this and other areas of improvement were minor compared to the excellent experiences that we truly enjoyed.

In summary, it was an excellent introduction to the great safari for our family, and we fully recommend Peak Season Africa Safaris and the selected properties and experiences.

Even before we departed, we were wondering when our next safari in Kenya would be!

Amazing Experience in Nayrere National Park!
5/5

Wow! From start to finish Plex took care of everything from Pick up on Zanzibar to two FULL days of Safari. We flew out early AM and went directly to the park- our guides Omari and Abduili were AMAZING! They Shared so much information about the animals and were truly great hosts our whole safari. Our vehicle was very comfortable and our driver navigated the bumpy roads with ease. After breakfast and lunch we went back to Camp for a short break, the safari lodge was perfect and the staff were so nice- the food was great as well. We went out for a night game drive and were the only ones in the park! It was a totally different experience from the daytime! The next morning we did a boat safari, we only saw crocs and hippos but it was still nice to do other than a game drive. We also went to a local village where our guide Omari lived and learned SO MUCH about the local culture it was one of the highlights for us. We then visited the Massai village which again was interesting and unique. When it was time to go, we flew out of the same airstrip right back to -Zanzibar! Totally seamless and truly a wonderful experience- cannot say enough great things about Plex Safaris! Great value for an unforgettable experience!

Johnathan is one of the most hospitable people I have ever met
5/5

Johnathan gave me the most incredible experience I have ever had. I travelled solo, always felt well looked after and the lodges that were provided were beautiful and clean. Transfers were prompt and always 5 minutes early, activities were best in class and above all Johnathan is one of the most hospitable people I have ever met. Can’t recommend African fairytale tours enough, and I can confidently say that I will be a returning client.

incredibly knowledgeable guide
5/5

After many years of watching documentaries, my partner and I finally decided to go to see the savannah for ourselves...there were so many more animals than we originally expected. We met many different tour guides whilst on the trip, and they were all incredibly friendly and all tried to help make our lives easier in this primitive landscape, but we soon realized we had chosen (by chance) the best operators ourselves. Aron from Rediscover Nature seemed to be the go-to for all other guides when they didn't have all the answers to the many questions one gets in that foreign environment. Not only was it like having our own encyclopedia, but he would often correct information found on the internet, which he would deem inaccurate. Thank you so much Mr. Aron and Rediscover Nature for your warmth and professionalism, you made this my best holiday ever!

About: Kenya
Incredible scenery and wildlife but questionable behaviours towards animals
Overall rating
5/5

Incredible sceneries and wildlife in the Mara national reserve. However some of the practices around driving and the numbers of vehicles were disappointing. One of many examples was a cheetah that was searching to hunt was surrounded by over 10 vehicles that kept moving and being in his way as he was walking along. That was not enjoyable, let's admire nature with respect.

Warmth and personality
5/5

Was supposed to spend 2 weeks in Zanzibar and whilst on the beaches I got approached by your usual guys trying to sell experiences, swimming with turtles, visiting freddy mercurys house and many more.
A young man named Squalo told me that I couldn`t come to Zanzibar and not hop over to the mainland to experience the best safari parks the world has to offer. The flight to Arusha was really cheap and once landed everything had been organised by Rediscover Nature Travelling and Trekking, right down to beers on the pop-up roofed jeep!
What an incredible experience and thank you to everyone on the team.

Incredible Service
5/5

Amazing experience. All tour guides involved we’re very friendly and informative, always ensuring we were having a good time. Food included was delicious and lodges were accommodating. They also provide transportation from Kilimanjaro airport, between places of stay, and back. I didn’t have to plan a single thing.

An Unforgettable Safari with the One and Only George – A True Master of the Wild!
5/5

We’ve just returned from a breathtaking 5-day safari through Kenya, covering Nairobi, the legendary Masai Mara, and the serene Lake Naivasha — and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary, all thanks to our tour guide, George.

Let me start by saying: if you ever get the chance to have George as your guide, consider yourself very lucky. He’s the kind of guide everyone wants — and for good reason. In fact, we were surprised (and grateful) to find him available, because with the level of experience, effort, and results he brings to the table, we’re sure he’s one of the most in-demand guides in Kenya. Even inside the park, we overheard and noticed other drivers admiring his skills — asking him for directions, following his lead, or simply acknowledging that “George knows what he’s doing.”

And oh, does he ever. While most cars just circle around hoping for sightings, George works differently. With his sharp eye and deep understanding of animal behavior, he doesn’t just follow — he anticipates. He reads the landscape and the animals like a book. He notices the tiniest signs — the direction an animal is looking, blood on their face, a flick of the ear, or tension in their posture — and within minutes, he’s taking us to exactly where the action is about to happen. Time and again, we were among the first at sightings, with other vehicles trailing behind once they realized George was onto something special.

Thanks to him, we saw it all — and most of it on the very first day! A leopard resting on a tree, male and female lions (some alone, others in a pride), a pride preparing for a hunt, three cheetahs on the move, a dramatic chase, hyenas scavenging, majestic elephants, huge buffalos, elegant giraffes, zebras, impalas, antelopes, and an incredible variety of birds. It felt like a week’s worth of sightings packed into a single magical day — a true testament to George’s expertise and intuition.

He’s not just doing a job — he’s living his passion, and it shows in every moment on the safari.

Beyond the park, George continued to shine. His friendly and warm personality extended into the lodges we stayed at. After a long day on safari, if we ever had an issue — whether it was with the room, a late-night request, or any inconvenience — George would immediately take charge. He’d call reception on our behalf and ensure the matter was resolved, no matter what time of night it was. His sense of responsibility and genuine care went above and beyond what anyone could expect from a guide.

Our journey wouldn’t have been possible without Meektrails, the tour company that coordinated everything perfectly. From the first moment, they impressed us with their professionalism and efficiency. We spoke to Daniel and Peris, who were incredibly responsive and helpful. Our initial call with them lasted barely 10 minutes, and within 30 minutes, we had everything sorted — the itinerary confirmed and the payment done. With other companies, we weren’t comfortable moving forward so quickly, but with Meektrails, it just felt right — and it absolutely was.

So thank you, Meektrails, Daniel, Peris, and most importantly George, for making this the trip of a lifetime. You gave us memories that we’ll be talking about for years.

If you’re planning a safari in Kenya, don’t leave it to chance. Ask for George. If he’s available, book him immediately. You won’t regret it.
