Unforgettable Uganda and excellent tour guides
5/5

Our journey through Uganda was a revelation. What an incredibly diverse and beautiful country! From the endless green landscapes and misty forests to the vibrant villages and warm-hearted people — Uganda touched us deeply.

The wildlife was, of course, breathtaking: meeting the mountain gorillas and chimpanzees was an absolute highlight. But what surprised me most was the abundance of smaller life — the countless colourful birds, butterflies, and tiny creatures that make this country so alive. As someone with a special love for birds, I was truly amazed by what we saw each day.

A heartfelt thank-you goes to our two driver-guides, Geoffrey and Edwin. Geoffrey’s knowledge of birds and nature was simply outstanding — he spotted species I would never have noticed without him. Edwin, too, shared his impressive understanding of the country, its landscapes and wildlife, and added a calm warmth that made every drive a pleasure. Together they showed us not only Uganda’s extraordinary nature, but also the soul of its people.

Uganda is rightly called “The Pearl of Africa.” Its beauty, diversity, and kindness make it one of the most memorable destinations we’ve ever visited — an experience I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone.

Fantastic hike on my 50th Birthday with Kisaza via 7 days Lemoscho
5/5

We did the Lemoscho 7 days to my 50th birthday and celebrated my birthday on the tip of the mountain. Steven and his team did all necessary to make this happen and I even got unexpected a cake on the mountain tip. We had the best crew ever. All motivated and supportive and funny all the time. Nico the cook did an amazing job. We got all times best cuisines and fresh fruits. Michal the chief guide took care of our speed and said “pole pole” if we ran to fast. This is to make sure you get the best acclimatization you can get to succeed the hike. From the pick up by the airport until the return we had the best time ever. We also booked at Kisaza the 2 days Safari after the hike with best recommendation.

Wish we’d gone for longer
5/5

We decided to look for a short safari trip very last minute (4 days before going, whilst we were at our hotel in Zanzibar), so searched Safaribookings.com and sought a quote for 2 days Zanzibar-Serengeti-Ngorongoro-Zanzibar from 3 tour operators. All 3 quickly responded, and Serengeti Savanna Adventures came in a touch less expensive so we went for them.

Erick dealt with the booking, we encountered issues as our Bank blocked payment due to fraud concerns, but after receiving copies of the registration/tourist board certification and verifying with the accommodation supplier that a booking was pencilled in, we had enough proof that this was legitimate so could demonstrate to our UK based bank that all was above board.

We received our flight tickets the day before we travelled - having only paid the day before that.

The driver (Syed) picked us up from our hotel very early morning as per plan, he was very pleasant and professional, and we boarded our flights without issue. We flew from Zanzibar to Arusha and then straight on to Serengeti Serenona Airstrip. Flights were great and on time.

We were greeted by Rajab (our guide) and Amos (from the office) - our suitcases were snatched by the airport helpers who then demanded a tip for the 1 minute handling of them, but that wasn’t a surprise. After Rajab sorted a small problem at the Serengeti National Park gate (with the passport for our youngest, I think they needed more evidence that she was 15 and not older, as the park entry price changes at 16), we were on our way in a pop-up roof jeep - it was super clean, in it was a plug socket, a chilled box with water/coke, binoculars, and a lovely packed picnic lunch (catered very well for 3 vegetarians and 3 meat eaters) which we ate en route at a special picnic stop off (it had toilets, albeit water wasn’t running so wet wipes would have been a handy addition and we’d not considered this).

Day 1, we saw lots of wildlife, including lions (my favourite), elephants, hippos, baboons, gazelle, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, hyena (and others), sadly saw a fallen elephant being devoured by hyenas and vultures, the stench left me physically heaving so be prepared - a leopard earlier seen by others evaded us likely because of the rain. Both Rajab and Amos shared lots of useful info throughout. We checked into our Camp, Serengeti Classic Camp just after sunset.

The camp was fantastic, the staff members couldn’t have been friendlier, the tent (huge) was spotlessly clean with sufficient supplies (albeit the warm water was tepid, as not much sun to heat it during the day), and the food superb. There was a lit campfire, but we arrived shattered so had only time for food, shower and sleep in luxurious beds and bedding. The staff got up early to prepare packed breakfast and packed picnic lunch (again, delicious) for our 05:30 departure. They have a tip box so that the money can be shared fairly. I loved this place.

An early start on Day 2 to drive to Ngororngoro - this actually took far longer than we’d expected (4 hours), but we breakfasted (supplied by the camp) as we drove, saw lots more wildlife en route and once there (more gorgeous lions, giraffes, warthogs, rhinos to name a few), and then had to set off for the airport - again longer than expected.

If I’d known how long we’d be driving for on Day 2 I might have stayed at Serengeti the second day and flown back from there, but that was our decision so no fault of the Tour Operstor. It certainly gave us a taste of what safari in Africa is - we came little prepared but still had the best time.

Slight issue at the end, caused by airline and our late booking, as the flights we thought we were booking (about 18:00) sold out before booking was confirmed, so an earlier 17:30 flight was booked (cost us $80 more), but then the airline (Asalam?) overbooked so 1 of us had to get a different 17:00 flight), not ideal and it left us rushing to get the airport for checkin time.

Upon returning, our taxi driver (sorry, forgotten his name) was waiting for us, another very lovely man, who got us safely back to our hotel after navigating lots of party busses as the riders were celebrating the close of the government elections.

Finally, Erick shared the photos (that Rajab and Amos had taken) with us through WhatsApp, so even more great service to help us remember our mini-adventure.

So very glad we did this, we met some lovely people, observed animals in their natural habitat, and have lasting memories.

Thanks Team Serengeti Savanna Adventures, you served us better than I could have wished for.

Amazing experience, the only guide we will use
5/5

Jon and his fellow tour guide Jenny looked after us on a private, 12 day custom designed tour through Uganda for our honeymoon and it was an exceptional experience. Jon's knowledge of the country and its wildlife allowed us to have some amazing experiences and we felt in complete control of our trip. We would recommend Jon in a heartbeat and he would be the only tour guide we would be using when we hopefully return. Both Jon and Jenny were easy to get along with and we felt at ease with them throughout our journey and learned a lot about this amazing country they were showcasing to us. Jon's organisation was second to none and every activity and place we stayed was exactly what we wanted. If you are going to Uganda, book with Safaris By Jon!

My family went on Safari with Viega Expeditions early in November and it was fantastic. Rodgers was so great to deal with and made us comfortable and we felt we were in good hands the entire time. Thomas was a great driver, and provided wonderful info throughout the safari, and was a safe and efficient driver. Would highly recommend them to others.
