Upfront and throughout our journey we were very well taken care of. After the booking, Sadick informed us about the tour itinerary both via email and WhatsApp which made it easy to ask questions and receive instant answers. Communication was very friendly and welcoming. The 7 day tour itself included a perfect combination of safari activities: 2 days Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation area, Tarangire NP, Lake Manyara NP and Materuni waterfalls. Our first day in Arusha was nice to settle in but you could also start with the safari right away after arriving at Kilimanjaro airport. You could also fly out to your next destination in the evening of the last day, we stayed another two nights in Arusha, but there is not much more to see or do. Some information about the city upfront would have helped us to plan our trip more precisely. The sequence of our itenary changed slightly, so we joined one group for 4 days and 2 different groups on the last two days. It would have been nice to stay the whole trip with the same guide and group as it was always a little hassle for the operator to organise transition to different places and hotels. Also, keeping up with the planned schedule would have been nice and I would have liked to be informed about the schedule a little more as well as lunch times or opportunitiesto go to the bathrooms. There was a lot of waiting for passengers, drivers, lunch boxes etc. But I guess it all happens in Tanzanian time here and that's just part of the experience. Our accommodations were mid-ranged, simple, clean hotels and we spent two nights in a tent at the Serengeti and Ngorongoro which was very simple with shared outdoor bathrooms, sleeping mattresses and a beautiful night sky with tons of stars to see and buffalos on the camp site. It's definitely worth the experience. Food was great, although it's pretty much the same every day: egg, pancake, fruit, tea for breakfast and chicken, vegetable and rice or potatoe for lunch. We had water, coke and some beers to drink along the way.
All in all, we had an amazing experience with the Tanzanian nature and wildlife. Our guides did their best to show us a variety of animals, like cheetah, lions, zebras, elephants, a leopard, hords of wild beasts, buffalos, giraffes, rhinos in the distance, birds and many more. We are greatly impressed by the beauty of this country and we would recommend anyone to book a safari in Tanzania.

The five of us had a fantastic trip. We went with our children, ages 15, 17, and 18, and my wife and I. Before we left, we received a book with all the information we needed: departure times, routes, where to shop for groceries, or where to eat. Absolutely everything. This made the trip even more relaxing. Once we arrived in South Africa after a long flight, we picked up our rental car. This was also arranged by Safari Op Maat, as was an eSIM card since our phones weren't working. This was necessary because we wanted to drive the route accurately. We spent 12 days traveling in South Africa, covering approximately 1,300 kilometers. We saw the Big 5, the friendly people, the beautiful scenery, and the fantastic lodges, each more beautiful than the last. We ate delicious food. This was truly the best trip of our lives so far. The organization of this experience was very good, although not perfect. Omar picked us up from our hotel and took us to the Dar es Salaam station, where we boarded the train to Morogoro. The only downside was having to wait one hour at the station, when I would have preferred to rest a little longer. In addition, we were not informed about the strict prohibition on bringing food and drinks onto the train, so we were forced to leave the groceries we had specifically bought for the trip at the station due to this lack of information. Upon arrival in Morogoro, we were picked up by Evance very kind and helpful. He took us for breakfast and introduced us to our guide, Azaria, who then accompanied us on the hiking experience in the Uluguru Mountains. We walked about 5 km to reach the beautiful waterfalls. It is highly recommended to start early, both to avoid crowds at the waterfalls and to avoid extreme heat during the hike.
Second suggestion for Ernest: consider equipping the company, as others do, with motorcycles to transport those who are not willing or able to do the hike on foot.
Azaria is unquestionably number one—he was truly phenomenal!
After returning to Morogoro, we all had lunch together and were then taken to Mikumi, to Vamos Hotel. Unfortunately, the management there was very poor and I absolutely do not recommend it. The staff was not very helpful and did not smile much. Fortunately, the next day we were moved to Chambo Villa, where we were welcomed exactly as we had hoped—by very friendly, helpful, smiling, and extremely kind women.
Third suggestion for Ernest: since the two hotels belong to the same property and are very close to each other, it would have been greatly appreciated if someone had offered to help carry the luggage, especially considering the inconvenience of changing hotels during our short two-night stay in Mikumi.
The Maasai experience, accompanied by Ernest, was pleasant but nothing special. Honestly, it felt a bit staged, but we’ll leave it at that. Ernest is a very capable and curious young man; he is well prepared and does his job very well, I’m sure this review will help him out a lot to improve his company even more.
Finally, safari day arrived! Wake-up call at 6:00 a.m. and off to Mikumi National Park. Unfortunately, we were not able to see all the animals we had hoped for, partly due to bad weather. The jeep was already completely wet in the morning, which was unpleasant for those who don’t like sitting on wet seats and then feeling cold during the tour.
Fourth suggestion for Ernest: provide rain jackets or blankets for guests in situations like this.
Aside from these points, everything else was fantastic! I highly recommend this experience to everyone, and above all, I strongly recommend trusting Saga Expedition!
