Professional and understanding of a family safari with young children
We travelled as a family of 4 with 2 kids (ages 2 and 4). We organised our own accommodation and contacted MC FLASH to enquire about a driver and safari guide from nairobi to amboseli national park. Other family members has used this company and had recommended
Peter from MC Flash, contacted me swiftly via WhatsApp with all relevant details. I found this very informative and Peter was very flexible with out needs, e.g. additonal car seats for each child with no additional cost. He was not pushy.
Our driver and guide, Anthony, was professional, prompt and very kind and understanding of our young family. He was a careful driver on challenging roads, gave us good advice about drive times to suit us but was very flexible. He was good at spotting wildlife, with good knowledge and shared his brilliant binoculars.
We travelled the 5 hour journey to amboselli on day one, enjoyed lunch and a quick swim on our arrival at our safari lodge (Kilma safari lodge, great for kids), before a late afternoon game drive, with the highlight of elephants close up.the second day was a 7am start (our choice) with a picnic breakfast to see more animals. Back for lunch and a swim before another, shorter late afternoon game drive. Day 3 we check out and set off back to nairobi via amboseli national park for a few hours.
It's a lot of driving for young children and he was very tolerant of their noise. At their age it was the right duration and more time spend driving would have been too much I think.
Peter was really good at communicating.

Unforgettable – a safari dream
Our trip to Uganda was unforgettable. We opted for a gorilla trekking tour with Pilama Safaris. It was my first such tour and also my first trip to Uganda. My travels usually take me to Southeast and South Asia. But this trip was something special. I found myself just a few meters away from a gorilla family in Bwindi and could hardly believe my eyes. I was moved to tears to be able to get so close to these animals. These gentle giants. I hadn't expected that. The entire organization was effortless yet remarkably sophisticated. Daniel, our tour guide, expertly shared his insider knowledge and was simply a pleasant person to listen to. He knew what he was doing as we entered the gorillas' domain. We felt safe and well cared for and had a great time. After Uganda, we went to the Masai Mara, where we had the opportunity and the incredible luck to witness the Great Migration. What an experience! I'll be able to tell my grandchildren about it. When thousands of wildebeest crossed the Mara River, it was like something out of a nature film, and we were right in the middle of it, not just spectators. Pilama Safaris also has a real knack for choosing accommodations. Every lodge is definitely recommendable, even for a longer stay. Communication with the organizers was straightforward and based on a handshake agreement. What was agreed upon was delivered and was well worth the money. One more thing: the trip planning and the entire itinerary were coordinated with us in advance and were tailor-made. Even when we wanted to add a relaxing day at short notice, the program was quickly changed, and we were able to unwind in the hotel's spa area.

Exceptional trip through Uganda with the best company and guide
Our 11 day trip through Uganda with Bob was an absolutely incredible experience. Our guide did an exceptional job in providing the most personalised and special moments for us. Every hotel was great, every ride was interesting and every Game Drive offered a new highlight. We saw all big five animals and more and some even so close, we still cannot believe it. The execution of the trip and the communication with Kajie was smooth and always very quick. We will be an advocate for Uganda, Kajie and Bob in particular who made our vacation memorable for ever.

I am very disappointed with how this safari was handled, mainly because of the lack of transparency about the price. I clearly asked for the middle option and its price, yet I was placed in the budget option without this being properly communicated. Even worse, I later found out that another traveler who had exactly the same safari, same campings and same hotels, paid only 550 USD including park fees — significantly less than I did. That feels unfair and unprofessional. For info, I paid 970 USD.
In Maasai, I was put in a tent with someone else. When we complained, the solution offered was to move me to another budget camping alone, which was not an adequate solution. We were also not given enough bottles of water for all the days. Additionally, when asking questions during the trip, some of the answers we received were simply not accurate. We are tourists, but we are not stupid.
The safari itself — the animals and the parks — was beautiful. However, the overall organization and honesty from the agency really affected the experience.
On top of that, I personally found Kenya to feel very touristy, and not in an authentic way. Too often it felt commercial and focused on extracting as much money as possible from visitors.
Because of these issues, I cannot recommend this agency.
