Five stars entirely for Bakari—the best guide in Tanzania!
5/5

Bakari is the best guide in Tanzania! With 16 years of guiding experience, he is incredibly reliable, thoughtful, and caring. Everything was well planned, he was always punctual, and he kept every promise. We felt completely at ease in his hands.
We visited in early October, outside the peak migration season, yet Bakari helped us witness three wildebeest river crossings in a single day—an unforgettable experience! His driving skills are excellent. Even on days when he drove for 10–11 hours, he never complained and always remained patient and attentive. He even helped us take photos along the way.
What makes Bakari truly special is his warmth. He looked after us like family, and traveling with him felt like having a kind, dependable uncle by our side.
However, our experience with their partner guide from Mufasa in Kenya was very disappointing. We found that guide extremely unreliable, and this resulted in our planned two-day Amboseli itinerary being reduced to just one day of safari. To be absolutely clear, my five-star rating is 100% for Bakari and the outstanding experience he gave us in Tanzania.
I will definitely return to Tanzania, and when I do, I will choose Bakari again. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

Jeremy was excellent.
5/5

Before the trip, we had heard a lot about Ngorongoro, but going to the crater was a different experience. The elephants and baobabs in Tarangire, which had a very different landscape, were the highlights of our three-day safari with Suricata Safaris. Ngorongoro was a completely different experience because of the large crater basin, open grazing areas, water, and forest that provided habitats for a variety of animals. As we observed the wildlife, we didn't feel rushed. Jeremy was excellent the entire time—calm, friendly, and very knowledgeable about both parks.

Amazing Tanzania Safari Experience with Bakari
5/5

We had an amazing Tanzania safari experience! Our guide Bakari was very patient and always punctual. He worked really hard every day to find animals for us, and he was always happy to take the time to make sure we could see them properly. We were lucky enough to see so many different animals during the safari.

We really enjoyed our time with Bakari and truly appreciate all his effort. He made the experience even more special, and we would definitely recommend him!

Luther and Samson were amazing! Very informative and the food was great.
5/5

The tour was amazing. We loved sleeping in tents and the campsites were beautiful. We saw all the animals we hoped to see and more. Luther was very knowledgeable about the animals and plants and we had a lot of fun. The chef, Samson, was great and the food was delicious for every meal! Highly recommend.

Excellent Safari.
5/5

Tarangire's massive elephants and baobabs amazed me. Ngorongoro was arguably the most breathtaking location, and Lake Manyara offered a stunning combination of forest, water, and wildlife. The three days passed quickly. Jeremy was a great guide—patient, knowledgeable, and easygoing—and Suricata Safaris made the entire group safari enjoyable.

Once in a Lifetime Experience
5/5

What an experience! We had an amazing time with the Uwanda Tours staff and were so impressed by their hospitality throughout the trip.

We did the 3-day safari, including airport pick-up and drop-off from Dar es Salaam. The drive from the airport was quite tough, so I would definitely recommend taking travel sickness tablets. The roads are rather basic and the journey can take around 5–6 hours. In hindsight, we probably would have opted for the fly-in option, where you take a small plane to one of the airstrips near the national park, which takes a fraction of the time. That said, the drive through the rural Tanzanian communities is incredibly beautiful and gives you a real glimpse into the country.

When we arrived at the lodge, we had a short break before heading out on the boat safari. This was an evening trip along the river, and both the captain and guide were fantastic. They were extremely knowledgeable about the river and the wildlife, and we learned so much during the trip.

Back at the lodge, meals were served at set times. The food was basic but very tasty and more than enough after a day of activities.

The following day was a full-day game drive, and it was absolutely breathtaking. The amount of wildlife you see is extraordinary, and the national parks themselves are stunning. One of the best things for us was how quiet it felt compared with some other safari destinations. We could often go hours without seeing another safari vehicle.

Our driver really went above and beyond to make sure we saw as many animals as possible. We managed to see 3 of the Big Five, along with so much other wildlife. There was a lunch break halfway through the day, which was a welcome chance to relax, and the jeeps have built-in coolers, so there were plenty of refreshments available throughout the day.

Towards the end of the day, our driver took us to a clifftop viewpoint to watch the sunset. It was the perfect way to finish an already incredible day.

On our final morning, we did a bush walk lasting around an hour. It was really interesting and we were guided by a member of the Maasai community and a bushman, who shared lots of interesting knowledge about the area. If we were to do the trip again, though, I think we would probably try to arrange a morning game drive instead.

Afterwards, we began the drive back to Dar es Salaam for our onward flights.

Overall, this was a truly amazing experience and we had the best time. Uwanda Tours offered fantastic hospitality, knowledgeable guides and an incredible safari experience, all at a very affordable price compared with many other Tanzanian safari options.

A couple of tips:

Take some small US dollar bills for tipping the staff. They are greatly appreciated, and the staff really do go above and beyond for their guests.

Wear neutral-coloured clothing for the game drives.

If you get travel sick, definitely consider medication for the long road journey — or look into the fly-in option if your budget allows.

An unforgettable safari with an amazing team and an exceptional guide!
5/5

We had an absolutely amazing experience with Somewhere in Africa, and we are so happy that we chose them for our safari!

From the very beginning, the entire trip was planned and organized perfectly. The team was extremely helpful, responsive, and professional, and they answered every question we had quickly and patiently. We always felt that we were in good hands and that they genuinely cared about making our trip special.

The safari itself was incredible and we had such an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. Everything was well organized, and the team went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying every moment.

A very special mention to our amazing driver and guide, Issah. He was absolutely perfect! He was professional, kind, patient, knowledgeable, and always did everything he could to make our safari as enjoyable as possible. He was also an excellent driver and guide, and his experience really made a difference. We honestly could not have asked for a better person to accompany us on our safari.

We are very grateful to the entire Somewhere in Africa team for an amazing experience and wonderful memories that we will never forget. We highly recommend them to anyone planning a safari in Tanzania — you will be in excellent hands!

Thank you so much, Somewhere in Africa, and especially Issah, for an unforgettable safari! ❤️

Great experience
5/5

I had a great time with this tour and the guide Jeff. That was my first safari so I didn’t know what exactly to expect but what I received ticked all boxes.
Jeff was a good driver, he made sure the group is comfortable and is getting what we were all here for.
Certainly can recommend the tour company as well, very positive experience!
