Perfect safari if you have limited time in Kenya
5/5

Had the best experience with Jocky Tours on a 3 day Masai Mara safari. It included pick up from my hotel in Nairobi, all transfers, accommodation, all meals and park entry fees - I didn't have to worry about anything.

Peter Kapino was a great driver, showing us the sights of the park and ensuring we saw as much as we could during the game drives. We managed to see the Big 5, including the elusive leopard that hadn't been seen in over a month!

The accommodation exceeded my expectations - affordable yet comfortable, and the meals were substantial and varied.

The company was very quick to respond to my requests via email, and booking direct with them was a smooth process.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and it was the perfect way to fit in a safari with my limited time in Kenya.

Outstanding
5/5

From the very beginning, our experience with Ways of Africa exceeded every expectation. The evening before our safari, Paul – the owner – personally came to our hotel to brief us on the adventure ahead. His kindness, professionalism, and genuine warmth instantly put us at ease. He patiently answered all of our questions and even surprised us with thoughtful gift bags full of useful safari items (I won’t spoil the surprise, but it was such a lovely touch!).

We chose the Lake Nakuru (1 night) & Masai Mara (2 nights) package, Monday–Thursday, and from the moment we were picked up at 7:30 a.m., we knew we were in the very best hands. Paul, (a different Paul) who was our guide, impressed us right away with his deep knowledge, not just about wildlife and nature, but also about the history, culture, and landmarks along our route. His passion and storytelling made the journey itself feel like part of the adventure.

For anyone wondering, especially the ladies—rest stops along the way were frequent, safe, and clean, so the long drives were very comfortable.

Our first destination was Sarova Lion Hill Lodge, Lake Nakuru. On the way, we were lucky enough to spot several animal species, which only heightened our excitement for the afternoon game drive. The lodge itself was wonderful: beautiful views, a delicious buffet restaurant, and cozy rooms prepared with mosquito nets and even hot water bottles tucked into the bed at night—such a thoughtful detail!

That afternoon’s game drive set the tone for the days to come. In just a few hours we saw buffalo, baboons, colobus monkeys, giraffes, warthogs, pelicans, flamingos, vervet monkeys, impalas, zebras, lions, hyenas, rhinos, hippos, and countless stunning birds. It was absolutely magical.

The following morning, we set out for the Masai Mara and checked into our next camp, Amani Mara. Words hardly do it justice—the views were surreal. Imagine enjoying breakfast while watching hippos sunbathe, monkeys leap through trees, and giraffes wander across the horizon. The staff at Amani were exceptional: attentive, kind, and full of knowledge. On our final night, they treated us to a bush dinner under the stars—an unforgettable four-course feast prepared by a world-class chef. Every meal we had there was simply outstanding.

And then came the highlight of our trip: exploring the Masai Mara. In just 1.5 days, thanks to Paul’s incredible guiding, we witnessed a breathtaking array of wildlife: elephants, a leopard in broad daylight (a rare sight!), a cheetah hunting and feasting on its prey, giraffes, hippos, jackals, wildebeest, ostriches, vultures, lion cubs, and two enormous male lions so close we could almost touch them. Seeing all of this in such a short time felt like a dream—it’s not something you can ever guarantee, but traveling with an expert guide like Paul certainly gave us the best possible chance.

What made the experience even more special was how much we learned along the way. Paul’s knowledge of every animal, bird, and landscape seemed endless, and he was always eager to share insights and answer our many questions. His passion for what he does shines through, and it truly elevated the entire safari.

We came away from this trip feeling deeply grateful—not just for the incredible wildlife encounters, but for the care, thoughtfulness, and professionalism that Ways of Africa put into every detail. If you are considering a safari in Kenya or Tanzania, I can wholeheartedly say: look no further. With Paul and his team, you are not just booking a safari, you are embarking on an unforgettable journey crafted with heart and expertise.

Thank you again!

Great tour, as advertised
5/5

There is a lot of competition for safari tours to Maasai Mara. I was happy with Jocky Tours and our guides Peter Kapilo and Moses. The hotel pick-up and everything else was on time, and we had a great time on safari.

The most amazing experience that you to Joel for organising our trip from Moshi through to the Serengeti and into the Ngorongoro Crater and back. Our guide Gasper was amazing…searching for the animals every second and ensuring our safety. Very well organised safari with all meals provided and on time schedules.

The Danakil tour and the tribal tour were amazing. The scenery was beautiful, the people were friendly, and it was a great trip that made me want to come back to Ethiopia.

Had an excellent time, saw almost all the main animals (missed leopard!) Fabulous price for the experience. Really good food, and accommodations were as described. Mary was accessible on WhatsApp whenever I had a question. Was in a Toyota Landcruiser for safari - large and comfortable.

Cheated by Craig & Bianca
1/5

We began planning our trip to South Africa with a group of family and friends in September 2024. Craig Lucke and Bianca Els of Southern African Tours were contracted to manage the in-country arrangements, including internal flights, hotel accommodations in both Kruger and Cape Town, group transportation in Cape Town, and various excursions.

We made our initial payment in September 2024 and completed the full payment before our departure. However, those in our group responsible for communicating with Craig and Bianca experienced increasing difficulty in getting timely or clear information—especially as the departure date approached. Despite repeated requests, we never received a final itinerary or confirmation numbers for any of the bookings before leaving the U.S.

Upon arrival in South Africa, we discovered that no hotel reservations, internal flights, or excursions had been booked or paid for. We were essentially stranded in a foreign country without any confirmed arrangements. Thankfully, the situation was salvaged—largely due to the efforts of our group members and the kindness of several locals we met along the way.

This was an incredibly stressful and disappointing experience. We have never encountered a situation where a company took full payment and failed to deliver any of the promised services. We strongly advise others to be cautious when considering Southern African Tours.
