Kenya safari- Maasai Mara, Nakuru and Naivasha
5/5

*Kenyan Safari - Massai Mara, Nakuru and Naivasha*

starting with the quote everything was great in dealing with Safari Update Travels. As this was my first visit to Africa I had a lot of questions about the trip and Shem and his team patiently provided me with all the answers. As soon as I paid my advance I clearly received all the receipts and the required letters for travelling and this process could not have been any smoother.

My wife and I had booked a land cruiser and an itinerary of ONLY Kenya with Massai mara, Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha. They picked us up at our hotel as promised right on time and off we went. I do have to especially appreciate our driver and guide Shem as he was fantastic throughout the entire trip. Any and every question we had was answered promptly and no matter how many times we wanted him to stop for pictures of the animals he was ready to do so. He was safe with his driving at all times and the hospitality we received from him was excellent. We stayed at great places with great food based on our dietary restrictions and were also fortunate to have a great game viewing. We also had a fun boat ride at Naivasha and also had an opportunity to hike down the Hell's Gate Gorge and were able to see the volcanic fault lines.

Everything that was promised was delivered !! Loved the experience in working with the company and our guide. I highly recommend this company and will definitely revisit and book my next trip with them soon.

Hello Tanzania keeps the word - wonderful 3 days in Selous!
5/5

It was a very professional prepared safari. We got a detailed plan, all explained, good prices. Most important, every point of itinerary was filled
We were offered accommodation in a safari tent at Jimbiza Camp. A wonderful place on the river bank. During our stay in Camp, elephant came, which was an additional attraction. The tent itself neat and comfortable, very comfortable bed, and most importantly with a private shower and toilet.

The first day we start from Dar Es Salaam in the morning. Iddi driver picked us up on time, we were driving a very clean and comfortable car with AC. At Camp we had lunch and then a boat safari; we admired the sunset from the boat on the Rufiji River. We had the opportunity to see Hippos in their natural habitat and elephants playing in the river.

The next day full day safari in Selous - professionally carried out with open car safari. Lunch break on the nature.

The last day early morning bush walking - a great experience, very cheerful and informative. Breakfast at the Camp and return to Dar Es Salaam
This experience will remain in our memory forever. Communication with Sylwia without delays , always helpful. Our guid / driver Iddi - always helpful, intelligent and patient. He helped us after the safari with organizing tickets to Zanzibar. Service at Selous Jimbiza Camp - great. Thank you, Hello Tanzania!

Great Stay at Twiga Travel
5/5

In June 2018 I visited Twiga Travel the second time after November 2017. From Johannesburg you can fly to Hoedspruit directly (what I did 2017) or you take a 4h trip by car via very scenic routes (I did 2018). Twiga Travels beautiful lodge is based in massive game (animal) park itself which is on the back of the Krüger National Park which you can enter via the Orpen gate just around 20min away.
The animal farm itself is fun to be in. You have 100s of animals in the park freely able to move and visit you at the lodge - from Giraffs to Antilopes or Zebras and I was told that predators are there as well.
The lodge was renovated I think in 2017 and is very modern and well equipped.
the Hosts are lovely and helped me / us with all questions and did also great tours with us outside of Krüger while I was travelling within the Krüger by myself - however Twiga also offeres guided tours in their SUVs through the Krüger.
I can only recommend to stay here and I will certainly visit Twiga again!

Excellent organisation & communications with Lion King Adventures
5/5

I organised my trip privately with Lion King. Extremely good communications, generally by return. They tailor-made my trip for me and listened to what I asked for, they also dealt with last minute (2 days before) alterations - very efficient.

All aspects of the trip were well organised - the transfer at the airport, the choice of hotels, the excellent bilingual (English/French) driver, Khalifa, who as well as being very punctual, discreet but friendly, knows the parks extremely well and is well-experienced (has been doing the Safari circuit for quite some years now) so knew where to find the animals and also how to adjust to difficult conditions (we had quite a lot of rain), so exercised caution when dealing with the difficult roads and driving conditions (unlike some who ended up bogged down). Also the vehicle was in excellent condition (although fridge and electricity recharge outlet not working, but minor details) - so no breakdowns or flat tires -another problem with many outfits (having talked to other tourists).

At the end of our trip, we briefly met up with Pendo from Lion King who checked directly with us to have our feedback - this personal touch was much appreciated.

On our trip we started off with a night's stay in Arusha (Ilboro Lodge - great evening entertainment by the pool to get you into being in Tanzania), then a stay at Eileen's Trees (excellent bungalow and good food), Visiting TARANGIRE National Park (skirting the top of the Ngorongo Crater on the way). Then visited SERENGETI N.P. with 3 nights at Serengeti Heritage Tented Camp ( good quality tented camp - great views, food fairly good) - good to stay several days in one place. Then on to NGOROGORO Crater - wonderful, and staying at N SOpe Lodge - definitely the top of the scale - superb views and rooms - even a hot water bottle on a cold night!). Then lastly we went backto Eileen's Trees and the last day visited LAKE MANYARA N.P. This last N.P. we felt was of less interest, as we had already seen many of the animals, but there are always new ones in each place. (if I were to do this again, would probably start here, or not do). Also driver said that there is certainly enough to visit in Tarangire NP for 2 days and that it was his favourite park - I would certainly believe him.

The Safari days are pretty long - up early and lots of driving around - having rather bad road during our trip, I think that probably we could have spent a little less time on the driving (although you do stop frequently obviously to admire the animals and the picnic lunches are always in a top spot- although the rather monotonous picnic lunches leave a little to be desired, but it appears all the tours do the same lunches provided by the hotels). The driver is certainly happy to follow your requests - so if you want a shorter day, with more blobbing time, then that is certainly an option - we fell into that towards the end. Overall a fantastic trip.

Little note - not to do with the tour - allow some leeway when using "smaller" connecting planes - not always on time, but they did go eventually.

I can thoroughly recommend Lion King tours to anyone.

We had an nice time with driver Leonard. He is a capable driver. They took good care of us.
5/5

We booked via an agent, they did the communication for us. But during the safaris everything was communicated well.
Check in was very good, they outlined all the rules and diner times etc. Which was very convenient.
The communication with driver Leonard was good as well. He knew the park very well.

Danger of robbery, low reliability
2/5

We made a one week safari in December 2019 with this agency, 2 adults and 4 children. The quality of the different services was acceptable except for the age of the vehicle and the poor reliability of the information offered by e-mail when making the reservation. In our case, the "peculiarity" of the trip with 4 children and the need to ensure their well-being and safety was emphasized. Although we were repeatedly confirmed that everything was safe and according to the needs of children, the result was that what had to have been a dream trip became a nightmare. This agency does not care or take responsibility for the safety of its clients during the trip and as a result of this lack of responsibility they attacked us at knife point when we were with 4 children. The feeling of insecurity in areas outside the national parks resulted in the fact that we could not enjoy the hired trip. From what we have been able to find out, it is an agency that strives to provide rapid responses in the bidding phase with competitive prices, but once you are on the trip completely neglect the clients and their needs, being the most serious and dangerous the fact that they cannot ensure their safety. I would recommend being very careful with this agency, especially if you intend to make a trip with children. In case you have the trip hired, I would recommend having emergency telephone numbers for the Spanish consulate, as well as contracting private insurance with good coverage.
