A Beautiful Place
I have now visited Liwonde three times and at different times of year April, October and December and am now organising to visit again this July. The Shire river gives this park a perfect setting, its wide blue waters are quite obviously the park’s life force and provide a focal point for wildlife viewing. The boat trips which any of the camps will organise are unforgettable and I think I’ve now embarked on four or five; on each occasion we have been up close and personal with elephants wading and feeding in the shallows. They ignore the boat and allow it to drift around them and the guides are good at keeping just enough distance so as not annoy the beautiful beasts. When on the boats watch for birdlife, there is a good variety of waders, divers, paddlers and raptors and when the river levels are low the sand banks become very cosmopolitan with all sorts of birds standing between the dozing crocs.
On land self driving is good unless the tracks are very muddy and there are plenty of birds to see including some very rare species, I sense the birds that hang out near the tracks are very accustomed to vehicles so bird photography here can be very rewarding.
Across my visits I’ve seen lions on all but one occasions and had one incredible cheetah experience watching a kill being devoured by a clan of young males. The antelope population is large and male elephants seem to often wander about on the flood plain but I can’t recall ever seeing a matriarch-led herd, I suspect they are deeper into the inaccessible parts of the park.
The beautiful setting, abundant wildlife and the fact that animals are drawn onto the flood plain where they are easily seen makes this a very special park; it is also an example of what African Parks can achieve when supported by the local community.
Malawi is a brilliant safari destination and Liwonde is the jewel in the crown

Wonderful, amanzing and comfort
It is our first time for Safari and also in Africa. We traveled with 2 kids (7,10 yr.) Before the trip starts, we think it might be not comfortable and boring for kids . But we found that Kenya has well Safari management, not only beautiful scenery and animals, but also comfortable and luxury accomodations and wonderful services
. I could not expect more and Kenya will be my top list choices for next trip.

Outstanding
This was our first trip to South Africa and there were a lot of people going for a family wedding. We'd been recommended to African Welcome Safaris as they tailor made the trip and were good with the costings. I got in touch with the company and Kathi became our tour operator. I gave her a brief outline of what we were looking for and asked her to work on it and come back with a proposed agenda. There were 4 of us in our party.
We did start the process about a year before we were due to visit so had given ourselves enough time to make changes and agree both costings and route.
Kathi came back within a few weeks with a proposed route which, after looking at, we were all happy with. She asked what standard of accommodation we were looking at and we gave her an idea.
About a month later Kathi sent us the proposed route, along with pictures of the accommodation and a breakdown of things to do in each area we were stopping off at. We had told her we wanted to finish the trip with a safari.
Kathi offered us a two day safari at the end but we wanted an extra day which she included.
The trip was upon us and we were all really excited. We recommended the travel agent to others, who also use them to book the holiday through. The costings were realistic and, I believe, Kathi got us the best deals throughout.
To say we had a fabulous time is an understatement. South Africa is truly a beautiful country, the people warm and welcoming. Our route was to drive the Garden Route and with Kathi's bookings we stayed at beautiful locations and hotels and lodges which were comfortable and interesting. we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. We ended the trip with a three-day safari that exceeded our expectations. To see the animals in their natural habitat was humbling and the knowledge of our individual ranger, AJ, was exceptional.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend African Welcome Safaris to anyone looking to plan a trip to South Africa. Their knowledge, along with working with individual requests, exceeded anything we could have hoped for.
Since returning, I've recommended the company to everybody who is thinking of visiting and I only hope they have the same amazing experience I was able to have....I certainly think they will.

Most incredible safari ever! Trip of a lifetime
Our trip to Kenya with Ramjas Safari was truly a bucket list experience.
From the start, Steven was fantastic—so responsive, patient, and informative via WhatsApp. I work in luxury hospitality, so that level of service really stood out and set the tone for the entire trip. We shared our budget and he curated the perfect 6-day itinerary for me, my husband, two friends, and my 74year old mother.
When we landed in Nairobi, our guide Patrick picked us up, and we instantly felt at ease. Warm, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable, he made us feel in the best hands from day one.
We began in Amboseli at the lovely Kibo Camp, where the staff were so welcoming. Watching herds of elephants roam beneath a stunning sunset was pure magic.
Next stop was Sopa Resort at Lake Naivasha! It didn’t feel like a typical three star hotel thanks to the beautiful grounds, where giraffes, zebras, and other wildlife wandered freely. Just stunning (felt like a country club in a way) and wish we could of stayed longer.
Then came the grand finale - the Masai Mara. A true bucket list destination, and the perfect ending. Patrick went above and beyond to make sure we saw every animal on our list—especially lions! His knowledge, patience, kindness and flexibility made all the difference. We stayed at the Masai Mara Camp, which struck the perfect balance between modern comfort and authenticity. The hot air balloon ride Patrick arranged for us was also unforgettable.
Even on the long drives, Patrick was so thoughtful, always finding the cleanest rest stops, which my mother especially appreciated!
Back in Nairobi, we had lunch at Carnivore with both Patrick and Steven before heading to the airport. Saying goodbye to Patrick and to Kenya was very emotional. Every one of us, even my husband, shed a tear.
Ramjas Safaris exceeded every expectation. Steven and Patrick were truly the best, and everyone we met along the way had the warmest, kindest spirit. It truly felt like a home away from home. We’re already planning our return, hopefully to explore Northern Kenya next time. Couldn’t recommend Ramjas Safari more highly. Thank you for everything!

Amazing!
Incredible experience with Safari Tour company in December 2024! Ngorongoro and Serengeti were breathtaking. The service and hospitality were excellent. Our guide, Alexander, was outstanding – so knowledgeable and made the trip truly special. We definitely got more than we paid for and can't wait to return! Highly recommend.

Bariki was informative, kind, incredibly helpful, and all around an incredible guide.
The tour was absolutely fantastic — from our guide, Bariki, to the lodge we stayed at, we had the absolute best time. We were able to learn so much about the area, the animals, the culture, and the country. We’re incredibly thankful that Bariki somehow found so many things we didn’t think we’d get the chance to see (lion cubs! a leopard!), and we had the best experience possible. Would strongly recommend!

Amazing safari experience!
The Most Amazing Safari Experience with Mountain Warriors, John & Miriam
We had the most unforgettable 5-day safari with John from Mountain Warriors—it was truly beyond anything we could have imagined! We visited Tarangire, Serengeti, Lake Manyara, and the Ngorongoro Crater, and every day was packed with amazing landscapes & adventure.
Our absolute favourites were the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. We were incredibly lucky to see the Big Five, including lion cubs, leopard cubs, a cheetah family, and the wildebeest migration. The amount of wildlife we saw—zebras, gazelles, elephants, hippos, and more—was just incredible.
The safari vehicle was very comfortable, and John was an exceptional guide. His knowledge, patience, and determination to find animals made the whole experience so special.
We spent two nights camping and two nights in a lodge. The camping experiences were something we’ll never forget—especially at Ngorongoro, where we shared the camp with buffalos and zebras roaming freely around tents. It was surreal how calm and peaceful they were, even just between the tents & next to people.
Tips for future travellers:
* Bring a good torch/flashlight—there’s a lot of action at night you won’t want to miss!
* Don’t leave clothes or shoes outside your tent—buffalos chewed up my daughter’s towel!
* Pack very warm clothes for the Ngorongoro area—nights get cold!
* And don’t worry if you’re nervous about camping—the tents were very clean and fully waterproof.
This was truly the trip of a lifetime. We can’t recommend Mountain Warriors and John enough—thank you for an extraordinary adventure!
Huge thanks to Miriam for our delicious, freshly cooked food everyday: pancakes & swahilli food meals. It was really special!
